Solich and Groce are worlds apart.

Exactly!  Frank had a lot of previous head coaching experience. Groce to good old Dale Bandy (or Billy Hahn)

Not comparing Groce to good old Dale Bandy (or Billy Hahn) but some guys are great assistants; can recruit top talent but when they step up to head coach it's a different situation and for some it takes time to build consistency.  For others they never quite get there (Bandy, Hahn).

I could ask "what happened" looking at the play-by-play, which shows us scoreless through 10+ minutes of play. I could ask "how'd it end", but when I look at the final score, it doesn't matter how it ended. In the end, all I'm going to say about this game is: THANK GOD that I stayed out drinking HEAVILY at the Buffalo Pond Hockey tournament (held on a parking lot a a street hockey tournament due to lack of ice) rather than rushing home to watch this game. COME ON CATS! Lets get it together!

Edit: extra emphasis on 'heavily'

It is ridiculous what  Groce has done to Ivo.  The constant harping has finally paid off.  A Bobcat who is capable ot 15-25 ponts per game, now is taken out of his game and confidence. Let him play, recognize his talents, get off his back.  You have a player who is (was) enthusiastic who nevers gets a break or recognition from the coach.  Just talk him up like the pet--OSU pal Kellogg--He can do no wrong.  I have never heard  Ivo's name mentioned on the after-game radio show--even when he was chosen to be "Star of theGame" However,Kellogg is almost always mentioned.  Why??????

Attention Groce:
Defense may control a game but Offense wins it. Try a putting together a cohesive team that plays together more than 4-5 minutes.  See what happens.  This is another great  Bobcat team that can WIN if given the chance.

Not the Baltic family---The OU Family.  Aren't you tired of watching the program and listening to the excuses?  Listen to the radio show after the game.  It is everyone's fault but the coach.
Doesn't the responsibility for the games ultimately belong to the coach?   Isn't the coach suppose to teach, encourage and demonstrate responsibility?   Aren't players suppose to get better under their influence?  Have you seen this happen?

Ivo was the player guest on the postgame show very recently. And why pick on Kellogg? Did he egg your house or something?

Unless Ivo was sick or hurt today it makes no sense as to why he'd play a measly 4 minutes given the weak effort of most of the team.

And I have no skin in the Kellogg vs. Baltic comparison but the stats are below:
GP-GS Min--Avg FG-FGA Pct 3FG-FGA Pct FT-FTA Pct Off Def Tot Avg PF FO A TO Blk Stl Pts Avg
23 Baltic, Ivo........ 25-24 664 26.6 103-207 .498 4-12 .333 43-84 .512 36 82 118 4.7 61 1 35 52 8 23 253 10.1

15 Kellogg, Nick...... 25-24 661 26.4 70-163 .429 61-142 .430 14-17 .824 4 39 43 1.7 50 0 26 22 4 20 215 8.6

I never said not playing him made sense. I'm just the disputing the notion that Ivo has somehow been disparaged in the scheme of things while Nick is the golden child of the program. And what does Kellogg have to do with someone being cranky about Ivo not playing more today?

If a coach can't be prepared for a zone defense or make the necessary adjustments during the game you have to ask "why". Some of it's on the players but some of the blame lies with the coach. For all those who ripped O'Shea ask yourself are we better off today? And the schedule this year was as soft as I've seen in years.

Whether the poster is related to Ivo or not is irrelevant. For him to see 4 minutes on the court barring injury/illness is asinine. I could find 5 guys at Grover who could have played as well as what we saw today.

Believe I heard on the broadcast Ivo tweaked an injury at practice while on the road trip, gave it a go and was not likely to return again during the EMU game.  Russ/Rob believed he must tweaked it again.  Don't recall hearing exactly what the injury was.

Ivo has a knee injury. Groce did not give specifics. He did say he was disappointed with the minutes he did give because he gave up an offensive rebound and didn't dive after a loose ball. That was obvious when Groce screamed to him that he was soft when he came off the court. However, he did admit that the injury could have played a role in those things. Either way, it was apparent he wasn't going to be able to contribute the way he needed to and could not play. Also, even before the injury, Baltic was not going to start. Keely was going to go in his place to begin with. Ivo's injury will be evaluated when they got back to Athens. It doesn't sound terribly serious but he was icing it during the game.

I don't know what's going on with Ivo, but one thing is painfully obvious: Groce is enamored with 3s.  His solution to every problem is to have somebody try a 3.  Over 30% of the team's FGAs have been 3s.  If Kellogg were the one trying them, it would probably work.  He's hit a third of the team's 3s (61 of 182).  He's hitting 43%, the rest of the team is less than 30%.  If Ivo Isn't "tough enough" inside, it's mostly because his primary role has been to feed somebody outside the arc.  He also doesn't get a lot of help when the opponent's zone collapses on him.  That comes from Groce not having a plan against zones.

Actually it's approaching 40% on the 3's. 549 out of 1440. If Freeman were still around I'd feel better. But this year we just lack decent  3 point shooting outside of Kellogg.

A coach who can't coach.  Team with no heart.  Coach blaming everyone but himself.  Team that can't shoot.
