I kind of want to build up the game to friends that it's only the 8th ranked team ever to play in the Convo and first since 1998, but that's actaully kind of embarrassing considering most locals are WVU fans and they do that in one season.

That's not even remotely true, is it?

WVU has hosted three teams this season that were ranked at the time (#18 Kansas St, #2 Kansas, #14 Oklahoma St.). By my count they also hosted three such teams in 2011/12, their final big east year.

So, they don't host 8/year, but its not like a top25 coming to visit is an uncommon happening.

That's clearly not the claim I am questioning.  See highlighted text.

As an athlete, I always want to beat the highest rated opponent possible and as a fan I feel the same. Which is why I never understood a fan base making an opponent seem to be of lesser quality. Which is why I've never been a fan of the standard "over-rated" chant. I would be more impressed if Ohio defeated the 24th-ranked team in the country than one that is over-rated and might be the 30th-best or 42nd-best team. This is just one person's opinion and I'm sure I'll hear this chant coming from the O-Zone Wednesday night.

While we're at it, please help this texting/twittering illiterate with "smh". I saw it in another thread today and I've tried all possible combinations (well, not all) of these three letters w/o any success. Hey, at least I know the shorthand "w/o".

By what measure are you now or have you ever been an athlete?

George lives in Parkersburg... he's talking about the locals in his area.

Looks like over 9,000 seats have already been sold for this one. I say we will be over 11,000 for this game.

Obviously winning is the goal for the team and I will never downgrade a win.  But are we all ignoring the the elephant in the room - that an Akron win in this game give the MAC a very realistic chance at two NCAA tourney teams this year.  Especially If Akron wins out and loses to us in the MAC finals.  Does anybody even remotely feel the same way?

In Parkersburg, sure, but having grown up in Athens - I'm sure they are a few around, but I can not recall any.

It looks to me that there are two thoughts contained in the highlighted section. First, that "most locals are WVU fans"; second, that "they [play 8 ranked teams in Morgan Town] every season". So to avoid this sort of confusion in the future, please be more precise in your highlighting.

i guess every time we say a player sucks, it undervalues our wins. since the ozone says nearly every player sucks throughout the course of the game, all our wins are undervalued.

cant believe this is even a discussion. so dumb.

Well, if I wasn't sure before if I was being disrespected, I'm pretty convinced now that I am. And all for sharing an opinion. My apologies to blocked punt. "Over-rated" is the most brilliant cheer, along with "you suck", among all college student section cheers.

Are you saying the Ozone is over-rated, and possibly sucks?

Those two are getting pretty cliche......would be nice to hear something new now and then.

It's WVU's first year in the Big XII. When they were in the Big East, that was not too far off. I understand George's point. I'm talking up this game in town. Between the two of us, we are adding several new fans from Parkersburg every year. The MAC is tough to sell to a casual fan, but a game like this is a great showcase for Ohio.

I'm absolutely psyched for this game and having Akron ranked only feeds the fire.

I agree 100%.  Would it be anyone else, a West team, Buffalo, hell, even Miami, I would have some comfort in that possibility.  But Akron?  No.  Not even going to cross my mind as a silver lining.  I want to beat the tar out of that team.  Like I said earlier, there is no game bigger than Ohio and Akron right now.

I wish Akron much pain....esp the midget twins Dambrot and Abreu.

I believe one more MAC win would clinch a bye to the semifinals.

I think you're right. It's a conversation for another day, but being the #2 seed might be better depending on how those Flashes keep playing.  Personally, I want to win the MAC double this year, just to silence the Zips trolls for another season.

Anyone see the new March Madness - Let it Rip!/Spring Football edition of SI?

Not only is JG on the cover, but also the Akron Mascot - are they implying Akron will be dancing?

Anyone know of a place in Downtown D.C. that would be willing/able to show the game on STO?

Game line opened Ohio -2 and moved to Ohio -3 quickly.  Akron 0-3 SU as an underdog this year.

Unless OU hits like 18 threes, Akron will win going away. That is simply the way the year is going.

And, OU is sadly on the NIT bubble!! A CBI or CIT bid after making the Sweet 16 is kinda of a let down

If we score more points, then I think we can beat them.
