Scanning the seating chart on the ticket page, there are about 5,000 tickets available for the Akron game.  That's about 500 less than yesterday.

According to AD, 10,000 should be considered a miminum...

That is pathetic.  This is proof the OZone is not requiring the official shirt for entry to the section.  Of all the pictures the marketing department has, this is the one they use?

It's better than the Illinois marketing department.

I highly doubt that they noticed the O$U shirt in the picture - let's not kill someone on this. The picture - minus the O$U shirt - is a great shot of our students.

The marketing and ticket sales concepts we have are among the best in the country. Those that travel around to road games can certainly back me up on this. And our recent attendance records, season ticket records, etc. all support this as well.

Yep.  5 figures.  Minimum.

I would consider fewer than 11k to be a failure.

Not a snowball's chance. Our highest mid-week game is probably 7,500 or so. 9K would be phenomenal, but I think that's even too ambitious.

This is going back, but the DePaul game in 1983 had close to 10K, if not more.  It was a midweek game and the only form of marketing to the students then was the graffiti wall.

The only people I want to "kill" (and by kill, I mean firmly question) are the O Zone members that brought said individual into the student section with that on.  The only excuse acceptable is that the guy is an OSU student visiting.

Side note:  He at least got to see a basketball team that knows how to score points!

Biggest weeknight student crowd I ever saw was when Ohio took on Bowling Green which was lead by Antonio Daniels. The crowd was legit 11,500 plus and I expect something similar. People may remember Ohio came from 18 points down with 11 minutes to go, sent game to over time and Daniels missed 3 pointer at the buzzer and Ohio held on for the win and moved into a 3 way tie for first place with one game remaining in regular season. The students ran over press row which lead to the decision to move media to a location behind the student section.

I really believe we will see 11,000 plus for this game even though it's a week night. I think fans will be making the drive into Athens in similar numbers to a weekend game. I wonder if Akron will bring an fans?

I'm bringing along an old friend and alum who will be in Columbus game day on a business trip, who has lived in Connecticut for years, and has not been to a game in the Convo in 25 years!

I'll be generous and say you're way off. No offense but if that ends up being the final attendance, that would be pathetic!

Here's my (belated and very long) opinion:

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs as a diehard Ohio State fan because my Dad went to law school there. All throughout high school I rooted for the Buckeyes, as did my family.

Once I decided to come to OU, I was completely a Bobcats fan. The Buckeyes weren't even on my radar. I couldn't care less about them.

Now I've even converted my Dad & family to be a 100% Bobcats fan. He watches all of the games & loves Russ, etc.

I own a couple OSU shirts only because I'm proud my Dad earned a degree from there.

I used to root for the Buckeyes hardcore w/ my dad. But, the amount that my Dad & I root for the Bobcats these days doesn't even compare to our OSU fanhood. We destroyed our basement when OU beat Michigan & South Florida in the tourney. We made the trip to STL to watch the OU/NC game in the sweet 16. I've got my sister wearing OU apparel to a huge HS in the Chi burbs.

Even after that, we went insane after the OU/PSU game. I traveled back to the burbs for the game & we went absolutely crazy after the W.

My point is, anyone who is an OSU fan & goes to OU is pretty pathetic. Choose one. If you wear an OSU shirt in the Ozone, you should be kicked out of the Ozone. I'm not even from Ohio and I have no tolerance for this shit.  IMO, being an OHIO fan is much better than being an OSU fan.

Same boat, I grew up in Pickerington and its always Ohio State or Michigan. When I decided to go to OU in November of my senior year I stopped wearing OSU gear all together and only wore OU gear. I went to the Ohio State Spring game rocking an OU hoodie and got a few compliments.

What he said was actual not accounted for which is where we have accumulated all of these recent "records."

Growing up I absolutely loved Ohio State. It was my dream to be a Buckeye. I actually attended Ohio State for one year and absolutely hated it. At the conclusion of that year, me and 2 others guys that lived on 8th floor of Park Hall transferred to Ohio University. I have not worn anything Ohio State since 1989. In addition, I cheer against them in every game.

I love whats happening on this thread. It's like an AA meeting where you say a few words and tell everyone how long it has been since drinking the scarlet and grey kool-aide and have been sober ever since.

Gotta support the college you actually attend.

That's a golden rule.

Would be awesome if Marketing ran a promotion where students could bring an OSU shirt in exchange for an Ohio shirt.  Go green and recycle the shirts to make more OHIO shirts.  I think it was Toledo that did something like this a few years back.

I think 9,000 would be an optimistic but attainable attendance goal.
