Akron getting a new basketball arena would be a tough sell at a university that built a $55 million football stadium and filled fewer than 35 percent of the seats each game this season. Two different sports and Bowden surely won't be losing for long, but it would be tough to take the athletic department's requests for what the school needs seriously.

Especially from people who chose to call Rob Ianello to tell him he was fired via a phone call as he was traveling to his mother's funeral.

I actually like the entry way there, but that's about it. The place just feels drab and boring, and not because of the home basketball teams.

It's just an updated version of their old drab, boring place, with somehow even less character than the original.

That's actually how I described it to my cousin when we were watching the game at his place Saturday.  The entry way, and the falcon statue are really well done, but it's just void of character or excitement.  Maybe it's the brown seats and off white walls.

I don't think Akron cares what anyone thinks.  So the "sell" wouldn't need to happen.  That said, I really doubt they would build a new basketball arena.  They almost hit the top 25 without one.

I was in attendance and I don't think the crowd was as bad as some of you are saying.

Anyone watching the game knew you were there, because you were on TV!  Camera was right on your face for a good 2-3 seconds.  Jeff McKinney - TV star.

I have a feeling that in a few years, a certain athlete from the Akron area will be gifting money to the University.  This is purely a hunch that I have, but he certainly has an affinity to the area, and what way to better pump up your ego than to have Lebron James Arena downtown.
