Tuesday, Casper.  That even intensifies your point about travel up there.

I wonder if they are busing or flying??

Flying today.

Rob C. was especially impressed with the quality of aircraft on Twitter:

But Akron plays Fiami tomorrow night at home.  It was only a 4-pt game in Oxford, but senior night in Akron will likely be another story.  Won't be pretty.

Senior Night in Akron is Friday.

Saab 340 B, a fine 1991 vintage.

May have had a cabin refit or seats removed, as even the tallest guys didn't seem discomfited.

. I've lost track of these types of planes, but it brings back the old days of the DC 6 (1965 or so) and Convairs (1970's) I think they were, although they were bigger than this one.

My understanding is that for Akron to lose the #1 seed, they have to lose out.  And Ohio would have to win out.

So Akron would have to lose to a badly limping Miami team in Akron tomorrow night, plus lose to Kent State this weekend.  If Akron ends up with two losses and Ohio also does, Akron wins the tiebreaker.

Correct, but we can still split the regular season title if we both finish 14-2.  They would just own the tie breaker for the #1 seed.

The only issue with flying a prop in the winter is snow. Hopefully they can get in and out of Buffalo and not encounter any bad weather.

Actually, for once Athens is looking like a trickier flying destination than Buffalo.  Is that big winter storm supposed to hit tonight or tomorrow?

Not this time. We've got clear sunny skies and not too shabby temperatures (high of 33 today). That massive snow storm thats hitting the midwest? Its supposed to pass well to the south of us  [knocks on wood]. Great weather for some pregame wings at Duffs and cheering on the Cats!

I don't think OUV was saying the #1 seed is still a possibility, but that a share of the MAC regular season title is.  In fact, being able to call ourselves MAC regular season co-champs while simultaneously being the 2 seed (meaning we get WMU instead of Kent/Buffalo) is kind of a great scenario.

If we take care of business in Buffalo tonight, I for one will be peeled to the TV Friday night rooting on Kent...even if we can't get the 1 seed.

I agree with JSF's analysis.  In the first meeting in Athens, we were able to outplay Buffalo's perimeter players and made it tough for them to consistently get good passes into the post.  Those perimeter guys have improved lately re:  their shooting and overall play, so it will be interesting to see if Ohio can defend them as well as the first time, and deny post passes.

If the Beefs are hitting their threes at a fast clip, it will be a very tough game.

I completely agree with JSF's logic.  A loss tonight would hardly be a bad thing.

I just can't bring myself to not caring though.  I want the W, and I'll be a huge Chippewa's fan tonight as well.  Win win.

If Buffalo can finish a game ahead of EMU in the final standings, it would put Buffalo and Kent on Akron's side of the bracket.  The Chips play EMU tonight.
