In full disclosure Jeff, I only put it there because it was the absolute only reason I could come up with for the "not to do it" category.

I'll be interested in seeing what happens with the start.  I know college is different than high school but I got the start on my senior day for soccer even though I was a bench guy and we were playing to win our division for the first time in at least a decade against a good team.  Of course he didn't keep me in more than 5 minutes, but for a coach that only played me in games we had in hand that was generous.

In my opinion since we are playing one of the worst teams in the MAC at home and playing DMAC doesn't disrupt the rest of the starting lineup it would be a nice gesture.  Of course JC hasn't been here for all 4 years with these seniors so the sentimental value we have for all this is probably not there for JC or at least to the same extent.

Christian is on the record as saying he doesn't think it means much to start, so maybe he doesn't see this as a particularly meaningful gesture. We'll see.

In the grand scheme of the game and basketball philosophy JC is, of course, correct. Who starts is of little importance because the score is 0-0 with 40 more minutes to prove yourself. It's the guys who are on the court with the score tied the last 10 minutes that REALLY matter in terms of direct correlation to winning vs. losing games.

That being said, the player introductions that go along with announcing each teams starting five, not to mention the excitement/energy associated with starting a game (plus it goes in the history books recording who started) is CERTAINLY  a big deal in terms of individual player recognition. It's something they can tell their kids and grandkids about some day and something nobody can ever take away from them. It's a big enough deal that it's a small gesture he SHOULD make for these guys that really won't affect either the single game outcome or our post-season positioning.

I'll be honest, if he doesn't, my opinion of JC drops lower than it already is (not that he or anyone outside my living room cares). It's not always about wins and losses. Sometimes it's about doing what's right for the guys in the locker room.

I don't think we've had a good "start the seniors!" argument since the Tim O'Shea days.

Yeah, who was the guy that everyone was screaming to get the start? Cliff McGowan? Bridgewater?

Honestly, this starting lineup would win a lot of games.  I would have no problem with it.  McKinley would have a lot of playing time at other schools, and start for some too.

Isn't the internet kinda of permanent record, public forum?

Why would you want to reveal about yourself that you'd refuse it or find it not doable to drive in from 1 hour and 5 minutes away.

For jollies, could you also post the most embarrassing three things that you've done in your life along with lots of pictures of same.

Oh please, the is in basketball terms relating to play time.

This is an honorary gesture for the best senior class in the history of the program.

He absolutely should start all 5. And at the end, have them all in and take them out so they can get a standing ovation.

Agreed with Graff. It isn't the start that'll go in the stats, it's the lights-out intro, with your face on the video board, spotlight on you with the crowd going crazy. It's something routine for most of these guys, but for a guy who works so hard behind the scenes, I think it would be pretty cool to put him in that spotlight just once (assuming, of course, he is comfortable with it). To me it is a gesture with no downside but plenty of up, the kind of thing you can tell your kids and grandkids about and can never be taken away from you.

My perspective on these type of things is often this..apt here:  Why would you not do it?

This isn't about YOU though.

I like you just fine and think you're a great all-around poster and Bobcat, but I don't get why you feel the need to tell us what you would do in this situation unless you're just trying to be the lone dissenting opinion to stir the pot a little.

My perspective...it is nice to let seniors play.  My thoughts are you beat the crap out of Miami early and give a senior extended minutes the last 10 minutes or so (not just the last 2 minutes).  They get to go out PLAYING ON THE COURT!  Just MHO.

I said it because everyone is assuming he would want to start. There's at least one person in the universe who wouldn't want to start, and I didn't want to put words in anyone's mouth, so I want with that one person.

Easy to forget given the subsequent 39:25 of regulation, but they worked like hell to get David the shot on that first possession.

I think it's fair to say he'd never been guarded so hard in his career.

If he tried to turn down the start, my guess is the other seniors would over rue him.

I think JC did the right thing starting DMAC and am glad he did.  Easy guy to cheer for and I got a Rudy type goose bump feeling when he was announced..

If I could be picky, I would say he should've left him in for 5-6 minutes.  Honestly, the outcome of the first half or game would IMO have been no different.  I'm not sure there's a huge drop off from Wilkins to DMAC and once again, if I could be a bit particular, I would've liked him to at least have worked up a lather.  I haven't looked at the box score, but he must have played just a minute or two, which I thought was a tad bit insulting, but certainly not nearly as insulting as if he had not started or played at all.
