Miami is terrible. Its Senior Day for the winningest class in the history of the oldest university in the Northwest Territory. We can still win a share of the MAC regular season title with a win and some help. Last game in the Convocation Center of the season.

My Prediction: PAIN

Do we really get a share if we end up with the same record - even though they beat us twice?

The Bobcats will get a share of regular season title! Akron will still get #1 seed in MAC tourney,if they lose to Kent on Friday.

Oh I can feel a strong suck coming into Athens on Saturday. I know they are having a pretty terrible year when it comes to basketball, but that doesn't change the fact that it is OU vs. Miami. Let's bring it home boys!!

We can hope . . . there's always an opening round NIT game.   But, I want the Big Dance!

It's amazing how far Miami has fallen. This used to be THE game. Miami is still our traditional rival but it just not the same as the old days. Part of me wishes they would turn it around just to ignite the rivalry again.

Miami will always be THE rivalry to me.

Sure Akron and to some extent Kant/Beefs have provided some more exciting match-ups and emotion recently but that doesn't undo 100+ years of bad blood.

It's like the Browns-Steelers. It hasn't been a marquee match-up for awhile but it's still the biggest rivalry on the schedule due to the history.

Agree about the traditionalism of the Miami rivalry...but I have a lot more negative passion when we go up against Marshall and Akron...and Kent State.

It's really hard to maintain a rivalry when it's completely one sided.  We have 3 neighbors who all graduated from Redhawk U.  My wife and I have gotten to know many of their friends who also attended school there.  It's unbelievable to me how little they care about anything.  I asked a few of them last year what they thought of Coles getting fired.  Not one person knew who Charlie even was.  I talk trash every chance I get when we beat them.  They are unresponsive.  They really do not care.  Most of these people spent 4-5 years in Oxford and never attended a single football or basketball game.  A few of them went to a couple hockey games, but I would hardly call them "fans".

I have no idea what they're breeding in Oxford, but as far as I can tell, it's apathy.

I have a good friend who is a current Miami student.  One time I mentioned Charlie Coles to her and she had no idea who he was.

Interest in athletics is not a common part of the culture there.  Guess we just have to accept that's the way it is.

Miami's apathy has ruined the oneupsmanship.

But yet, Ohio has to come to play Saturday.  Miami has enough talent to give any MAC team a very hard game.

I have two sisters and a wife that attended Miami I can confirm this apathy.  One sister was at MU for the Wally era, my wife for Big Ben's time.  If those two eras can't get you excited about your school's athletics, what would?

My older sister once told me that she hoped OU won since I cared about the outcome.  Nice of her, but probably about the norm.

My sister went to Miami and was on the dance team.  Ergo, she attended every basketball and football game.  She came down one year for sibs weekend and we played Miami that day.  I remember walking into the Convo, and she looked at me and said, "Wow.  You have fans.  And students actually come to your games?  I should have came here."

QFT and the understatement of the decade.

Miami offered me an academic and a baseball scholarship. I didn't return their calls or letters. My parents thought I was being a little crazy but I told them there wasn't a chance in Hades I was going to attend that school in Oxford.

My brother, who is an avid sports fan and attended every football and basketball game while he was there in the 70s, has even fallen into apathy.  He used to post somewhat regularly on their boards but says he hasn't in years because no one cares.  It's a crying shame.

Good friends of my parents who attended Oxford Tech in the 70s drove the three hours to every bball game till about five years ago, said they are tired of putting their money into a losing proposition and empty facility!

Agree 100%.  Miami is hapless and most of their fans could care less. Akron, Buffalo, Kent, and Marshall are more rivals now, at least in hoops.

Squawk Talk doesn't even have a thread for this game. That's how pathetic/apathetic they've become. Sad.

They are part of the reason why I wouldn't mind a conference move.  It's upsetting that our main rival just doesn't seem to care anymore.
