I should clarify something from my last post:  I said that I didn't put our programs on the same level.  I don't mean this as disrespect to our rivals from Akron, and to be fair they were DII until 1980 or something to that effect.  Duke was beaten by a 15 seed (I think Norfolk State) last year.  Are their programs on equal footing?  Huge difference between a team and program.

After all the bellyaching they've done about how it should've been them last year, they better go win a darn game.

I hate Akron with a passion and find it nearly impossible to root for them. But I want them to win at least one game and earn the MAC some money and attention. (Although half the attention they get from the talking heards will probably be the fact that their starting point guard is suspended for drug trafficking.)

I want to hear how MAC teams have won games in the tourney and the league is deserving of more than one bid. We did OUr part to help the conference in 2010 and 2012. Now they need to do theirs.

If that's rooting for them, then I guess I'm rooting for them.

I am rooting for them.  It would be good for the MAC and in turn good for us.  Would love to see the MAC school beat Michigan 2 years straight.

As much as I dislike Akron, I still respect their team and hope they can pull the upset against VCU.  I don't expect them to win, but as others have said it would be great for the conference to show that we pulled upsets in 3 of the last 4 years as a 1-bid league.

Per the NCAA website "In 2012-13, each basketball unit will be approximately $245,500".  So every game that the Zips participate in the MAC will be awarded a unit. The payments are based on a 6 year rolling average so the actual amount may vary a little but it's going to be in that ballpark. As much as I hate Akron in this case the dollars really do make sense.

lol... I'm forcing myself to be logical about this and hope they win for the good of the conference, but my heart feels the way you do.

No one likes 'kron.

No one.

But it takes only a trace of smarts or maturity to calm down and do a bit of analysis of whether it would be good--reputation, cash--if 'kron won.

For instance, take the insane thought that they won it.

Or you could take the immature, overly emotional approach.

Is that how you run your life and your business.

Nobody likes 'kron.

I wonder how the conference re-allignments figure into the 6-year rolling average?
