Winning at Marshall is an embarrassment?  I'd love any chance to see the Seniors play another game or so.

This is an idiotic statement.  If you want the season to end, don't watch.  I guarantee that if we end up being the worst seed in the CIT that D.J. Cooper will want to keep playing. 

Can we just stop this before it gets started. there is ample evidence that CBI and CIT participation is good for the program and gives you extra practices, extra tourney experience and extra time together as a team. If the coach can keep those more selfish team members from checking out (gives coach a real insight into true character) like a couple did at Bradley and EAstern then you can use it to build for next year and simulate the next step. Coach Groce believed in it so much he had it written into his original contract that they would always play in ANY post season tourney offered.

Butler was in the CBI.....you know what happened next? Despite disparaging remarks from some idjuts on their boards which are very searchable they went on to play in 2 national Championship games. This first time poster on the Butdogs site summed it up nicely only to get flamed by a bunch of folks who thought they were too good for the CBI. They played Delaware, Penn and Pitt and parlayed that into a National Championship run....oops make that 2.

If you are not convinced by anything I have said so far consider Wright State.. ..thought they were too good for the CBI and turned down the bid ......going places aren't they?....and lastly.... we played post season in 08 and 11. I know for fact both of those years provided lessons and experience that had a lasting effect on the kids who participated.


ALet's just stop with the "it's an insult to play in these tourneys" before it even gets started. All it shows is how little you know about the world of college basketball and what they provide to building a program.

Because apparently 1 lucky run to the sweet 16 (I say luck because we did get hot, which sometimes is just that...luck) means we are ready to tackle the world.  No more MAC, we are miles above it now.

People keep forgetting, half this board was very critical of Groce each season until the post-season.  Hell, I remember last year that many were criticizing his rotation and when we lost to BG and EMU half the board even questioned if we'd go anywhere.  I'll go even further, when we lost to Kansas in whatever that one tournament was named during the holidays almost 2 years ago (it was the year after we beat Georgetown) many people thought that just because we toppled the #3 seed in the NCAA meant we were ready to take on everyone else.  We do something good and suddenly people think that anything short of a repeat is unacceptable.  Stuff happens, we didn't have a repeat run.  We'll get back to the dance eventually.

Bradley, YSU, Kent, eLON,  Fairfeild, UC Irvine, Loyola MD, Hartford and RIder in CIT so far. Cal Poly a maybe..... Delaware turned down CBI and CIT.  EKU anxious to play in any of them, New Wright St Coach not going to look at it like his predecessor,

Fan interest in anything other than the NCAA tournament can be tepid, but for a team like the Phoenix — which has only one senior and is expected to be one of the Horizon League favorites next season — the CIT can serve as a building block. The tournament features 32 teams from outside the power conferences.

These are 32 spots for teams outside the Major conferences. THe CIT is defeinitely a place to build your team for next year especially if they are a younger squad that can get toruney ecxperience.

The money is already there.  It's the same line item that funds bowl trips.  It's called the post season opportunity fund. 

It's this kind of small picture thinking that keeps small programs, well, small.  I'm glad that Shaus isn't a small picture guy like you.

I am going to respond to this because I miss the old days of arguing with the anti-athletics spending crowd.  For the most part they completely disappeared this past year due to the millions and millions and millions of dollars in exposure our athletics program provided.

On that note, Borna talked about the key experience and extra practice time that post season tournaments provides athletes.  The same can be said about our football team competing in bowl games.  One more month of practice while most of this conference is sitting around on their couch watching everyone else play.

Even with our loss last night, the success of the past couple of years has shown the returns we get on athletic spending are well worth the expenses.  I trust Jim Schaus and Dr. McDavis to evaluate which opportunities are best for our program to pursue.
