I think the most interesting point to note will be when he reaches the point when no player in history is ahead of him in all 5 "counting stats" in basketball.  Or has this possibly already happened?   Is there any player in history right now that has more in each category of points, assists, steals, rebounds, and blocks than Cooper?

I'm pretty sure there are people ahead of Cooper in all of those categories.

The thing that makes it special is that no single player has had over 2,000 points & 900 assists & 600 rebounds.

Those numbers alone put him on all time lists, but not at the top of those lists.  No player in history has had all 3 of those alone.

I hope we have no more Belmonts the last four games or the 2000 points could be more difficult to get to.

Although DJ's probably not going to crack the top 10 dime-droppers all-time, he should be in the top 10 in assists at one school.  #10 is Doug Gottlieb (947), but both he and #9 Greg Anthony played at two schools, with each getting more than 100 assists at their first school before transferring.  That would put Orlando Smart (902) at #10 in assists at one school and Gary Payton (939) at #9.  DJ's almost a lock to pass Smart and with at least four games left (regular season and MAC tourney), he can come close to Payton.  And with a run into the post-season, who knows.

Not to be lost in this unique milestone, DJ needs only three more three-pointers to break Tommy's school record.

D.J. in 810+ attempts, Tommy in 584.  This would be the one record that isn't really a positive reflection on his game.

Nick was well on his way to beating them both easily until his struggles this year.

To get to 947 (tie tenth) he'd need to average 7.6666 to get there in 6 games, which doesn't seem like too much of a stretch (3 regular season, either 2 MAC tournament / 1 NCAA, or 1 MAC tournament / 2 NIT/CBI). He'd have to go just a touch over his 7.5 average. I'd say it's closer to a coin-toss than probably not happening.

If no player in history has all three of those then obviously no single player is ahead of him in all 3.  2000, 900, 600 are really just arbitrary numbers.  A less arbitrary statement would be when was he the first player to reach the totals he actually has.  We know he will be the first to get 2000, 900, 600.  Is he already the first to get 1984, 901, 602?

What a legacy! This will be hard to beat anytime soon, unless the NBA changes their eligibility requirements.
In addition his name will now be mentioned during discussions of all time greats, statistically speaking, during every season until the record is broken. So Coop & OHIO will receive national exposure for years to come.

So am I the only person who noticed that the foam fingers they gave away to commemorate DJ's accomplishment have a misprint on them? Lists the number of rebounds as 500, rather than 600.

He set the record at 500 rebounds and proceeded to blow it away. I'd guess that they got them printed before it was apparent he was going to get 600 boards?

No, I think they just took the lowest common rounded amount for each stat because that is the notable record.  Otherwise, they would print them as "D.J. Cooper, only player to ever have 2,018 points...919 assists...323 steals...613 rebounds."
