I heard the players speaking of "Cementing Their Legacy" by returning to the NCAA Tournament this year.  Obviously that opportunity is gone and it would only make the sting feel even greater if they go out to Denver and get drilled again.  The worst case scenario is that they're not emotionally ready, get drilled and it goes from a bad, to worse ending.

The best case scenario is that you could argue that a trip to MSG and an NIT Final Four finish would be redemptive, change the entire complexion of this season and potentially rival a first round loss in the NCAA Tournament.  Whatever the case, it certainly is "an opportunity" to turn lemons into lemonade for this team and I hope this is the mindset they play with.  I'm sure we'll find out when they absorb their first blow in the Denver game and see if they lay down, or fight.

Let's do this!

With such a short turn-around on this one, I don't know if the OU ticket office will sell any tickets for this game, but you could call in the morning to ask. Most likley, they'll tell you to call Denver's ticket office and request that location.

Looks like they got upset by a 12-22 Texas State in their conference tournament after going in as the #2 seed behind Louisana Tech.  Had won 17 or 18 heading into the conference tournament.  Lost only 2 games at home all year, the last one being on Dec 21st.  WAC made up of teams like New Mexico State, Utah St, Texas-Arlington, Idaho, SJSU and Seattle.

In their tournament game they only played 7 guys and 5 of the 7 were listed as guards?  One listed as G/F, one listed as F and the rest guards.  In their last home game to determine the WAC Regular Season Championship they only drew 5,000 fans (not sure the capacity).  The rest of the games look like they draw a couple thousand per game.  So I'm guessing it will be a "smallish" crowd.

Not knowing anything but what I see on their scheduling page, I like our chances if we come to play with any kind of emotion.  This sounds like a team that would be less of a away game challenge then say @Akron or @Kent.  The obvious bigger issues our the quick turn around time, no time for any kind of preparation/rest and the mere emotional state of the team.

This is great! If OUr Bobcats recover from their meltdown Saturday night and win multiple games in the NIT, it will give OHIO fans something constructive to do between now and the spring game. Win/Win!

Denver's arena is a beautiful mid-size facility that host both basketball and ice hockey, believe it seats around 8,000. A buddy of mine got his M.B.A. their, I was impressed for an inner city campus.

I just hope this team is hungry to do something. This is their opportunity to finish the season on a high note, and their final impression (for the seniors) for us to witness.

Reality check:  this ain't gonna be easy!

If you believe Sagrin:

Denver #60-81.39
Ohio: #83-78.50

Add in the home court and we look like a 6-7 point underdog!

All I can say is acclimate, acclimate, acclimate.  If our players are not bothered by the lack of oxygen at the higher elevation,  the game is ours.  My hope is that OHIO wins its bracket,  UVA wins its bracket, and they meet at MSG.  If so, I will be there.  Saw John Shumate and Notre Dame in the 1973 semi-finals.  The 2013 semi-finals would be a 40th anniversary for me.  GO BOBCATS!!  GO HOOS!!   No special team to root for in 1973.  If OHIO plays UVA, both my teams will primping for battle, and I will be loving it!!

This. I fully expect us to lose by 10+.

On the road. High altitude. Quick turnaround. Dealing with crushing defeat mentally. Playing a top 100 team (we know how well we've played there).

The only saving grace is they aren't big and physical so we should at least match up well with them, but make no mistake if we somehow managed a win, this would be our best win of the season.

Ohio is 0-5 in non conference road games.

Ohio is 0-7 vs opponents with better RPIs than Denver's.

Ohio has yet to show that they can properly execute a game plan and make in-game adjustments vs quality opponents.

I believe the student athletes on this team are capable of beating any team in the country, any time, any where, any altitude.

I believe this coaching staff has the experience and knowledge to be successful at Ohio for years to come.

BUT..

I do not believe this coaching staff has the ability to correctly coach up this team for a win against a quality opponent.

Perimeterpost--Fortunately you are not coaching the Bobcats and Jim Christian and his staff are.  They have done a great job in a difficult situation!   First MAC regular season championship in 18 years my man !  Over 20 wins, played in the finals of the tourney, one half away from going to the big dance again !  The lightning we captured in a bottle last season after multiple terrible losses in the regular season guarranteed us of nothing this season.  We have some fans who post like we were guarranteed a ride to the Final Four because we made it to the Sweet 16 last year.  Get real !  Understand how difficult it is to get to the top and play for championships every season.  it is not as easy as so called "fans" like you think it is.  Trust me on that.

you're not hearing me.

I'm not one of the negative, sky is falling, fire the coaches now types on here, quite the contrary. But I can't ignore this concerning trend I have seen all season.

I understand that this team has shown that they can play well in front of the Ozone and they can play well against teams with 100+ RPIs, but in each of their losses they looked lost, flustered, unprepared and disjointed. Why are they so consistent in how they lose? Why are we worse after halftime? Why can't we maintain a lead?

Robert Morris ran us out of their gym. Ditto Memphis. Ditto Belmont. I don't even want to mention Winthrop. How bout the 3 Akron games? Its not that we lost, its HOW we lost.

Weak, timid and unprepared should not be adjectives for this team. How does a 1000pt scorer get turned into a shivering pup that scores zero points in 3 games against Akron and won't drive to the basket even when the lane is open for fear of getting blocked, or worse, sent to the foul line?

Again, I'm not bagging on anyone or claiming a doomsday scenario, but nothing about the way this team has played top 100 RPI teams on the road this season has given me any confidence that they will keep it within 12 at Denver.

why will this time be different?
