Add the following to the "Can't Coach" List! (as per their respective fan base's message boards):

-Jamie Dixon -- PITT

- Dave Rice -- UNLV

- Steve Alford - New Mexico

* Look for additional updates to the list as today's events transpire.

The only person who seriously needs a stern talking to is Bob McKillop of Davidson.  Letting Marquette win that game was pretty inexcusable.

Yes.  Every fan base message board at some point will knock their coaching.  OSU fans go undefeated in football and they question their coaching.  And zippy fans are questioning their coaching:

UNLV would have won if they hired Boals and New Mexico should have hired Dustin.  At least we made the right decision bypassing Pitino's kid.

Face it guys, coaching in the MAC is difficult.  You just don't get enough of the really good athletes to win consistently.  That is why runs like OHIO's last year in the Tourney are so remarkable.  No Top 150 players, no million dollar coaches, no Sunday nationwide television and yet, once in a while, teams really outperform!

110% Agree.  When all you need to do is burn off 1 minute plus with a 7 point lead, they could have done things much better.  Plus at the end, call timeout, run a play to get the ball in bounds to one of your two best FT shooters and ice the game.  That was exciting as hell at the end, but it didn't have to be.

Marquette made three well-defended 3-pointers in a row, so give them credit for that. Davidson missed one free throw along the way and a kid made a risky pass that ended up going out of bounds. I'm pretty sure he didn't coach them to do any of that, but when you get pressured and have to think quick, sometimes you don't react the way you should. Unless I'm not remembering something, I can't think of anything strategy-wise that was a mistake.

Add Philadelphia 76 coach whoever that is, they blew a 5 point lead in the last 10 seconds. Oh the shame.

I'm a Marquette fan going back to the Al McGuire days (remember OHIO transfer Ulice Payne as their irreplaceable sixth man in the 1977 national championship season?  How did Al steal him from Jim Snider???), but they were the worst shooting three-point team in the tourney.  A little luck goes a long way in the NCAAs.

Add Jimmy Boeheim to the "can't coach list" after his team got outscored 49-17 or something similar in the second half by Louisville.

Bobby Huggins of WVU definitely should be on the hot seat.  He's never won a national championship, and now he actually has a losing season.  AD Luck should be trying to raise funds from rich alumni to buy out his contract.

John Calipari of UK...inexcuseable to miss the NCAA tournament the year after winning a national title.

Dambrot obviously made some good adjustments at the half.  He can't coach, either.

I listened to the last 5 or so minutes of Davidson/Marquette.

Marquette did what we didn't do once this season.  This thing is why I find our season less than satisfactory.

What is this thing?  They imposed their will at a key point in a key game.

This is the diff between all of you who are in the 'fine season, no complaints' camp and me.

Again, getting to NCAA would've pretty much been enough for me even if we'd've lost in our first game.  But we did a lot less than that.  We just didn't get it done even one time in a tough/big game.  Maybe kents at home but many other missed opps.

It wasn't Snyder; Dale Bandy lost him along with a nice little PG called Larry Slappy.  That was part of the significant slide under Bandy that wasn't fixed until Danny Nee came in.

C'mon, Mo.  Cheer up and always look on the bright side of life. You're in Cali, have a CPA, and a girlfriend.

Interesting.  How exactly did they impose their will?  By finally making highly contested 3s at the end?  By forcing one turnover in the final 50 seconds?  Please inform me how they imposed their will.  The folks down here at Davidson are dying to hear how Marquette won by imposing their will.

eats shoots and leaves (could be a criminal, a panda or a basketball player)

the way I read that Al's teams were the worst 3 ball shooting teams in the tourney. I could not get my head around that knowing that the 3 pt line came in mid 80's,

me too, had to read that multiple times to realize he meant this tourney.  The other perplexing thing that I read on occassion are references to great dunks by Bill Walton, Michael Thompsn and other college players of that era.

I watched most of the Davidson game and couldn't understand their defense that last 6.5 seconds. I would have gone zone and make them shoot a 3, I know they we're hitting 3's but to let the guy drive was kind of dumb and foul him please. Didn't we play man the entire game against Denver? I'm not a basketball expert by any means but an occasional zone might have stopped some of those back door passes we got killed by.

Hmmm, Groce's team can't make a bucket-what did he tell his team at halftime?  His adjustments at halftime haven't worked so far (yet) either.  :)

Edit:  never mind.........
