I thought it was an Ohio guy, like Optimist for a while. But then I read something that made me think it might be an Akron person. It's got to be one or the other, because I don't think another school has fan(s) that care enough to put enough effort into something like that. Regardless, the stuff is hilarious, and I really enjoy the tweets.

That's just what I was thinking. Real Guy was throwing some insults about living in his parents basement, but it's hard to tell if it was said jokingly or not. Either way, it's spicy and I like it.

It isn't me, but I can understand why many have thought it was me at some point.
I have cycled through a couple different posters on here who I think it is.. I also thought it might be an Akron fan.  Followers on twitter are listed in chronological (or reverse?) order so that your most recent follower is listed at the top of the list.  If you scroll all the way to the bottom of @FakeGuyMAC's list, you get about 20 Bobcat fans.  Possibly all bobcatattack posters. That makes me think it is definitely a bobcat fan, and if it isn't there are not too many other fanbases that care enough for it to be them.  
Whoever it is does a good job.  Pretty hilarious.

when Akron became ranked Guy tweeted that they were the first ranked MAC team in 5 years. A couple of people (most likely Bobcat fans) kindly corrected him and reminded him about Ohio being ranked in April. Instead of just saying "oops, my bad" he goes into these arguments about how he was referring to a link (that he hadn't sent out yet) and how he "obviously" meant regular season when there was no mention of it, and so on.

then he starts spamming out all these tweets specifically mentioning Ohio's ranking etc and STILL refused to admit that he had made a simple, honest mistake. It was all so unnecessary and childish. And again, none of the tweets I saw correcting him were angry or sarcastic or anything like that. No idea why someone that sensitive and defensive would ever take a job as a communications director. very strange.

I believe the account started last season when there was a snafu about JGuy saying that OHIO's bracketbuster game would be carried on national TV (and we were actually on ESPN 3) so it's possible that a bunch of OHIO fans were the first ones to follow FakeGuy because his initial tweets were very focused on the bracketbuster boner as I liked to call the entire snafu.

HE has come at me a couple of times when I corrected him or challenged him to actually get off his ass and get out of North east OHIO....... and of course once when I asked if his arms were getting tired hanging from the scrotums of a couple of his favorite players and coaches.

I thought about calling him out on this so many times, but never felt the need to waste the energy.

All you have to do is look at the amount of his tweets regarding schools up there as opposed to other schools. He's a BG grad, so I get that part of it. I seem to remember him nitpicking about our attendance number against Akron being "around 9K or so," but earlier in the year was jumping for joy when Akron crammed 5K in JAR.

I think...  (real) J Guy means well... but...

The dude has a lot to learn.  Twitter is a great tool to bring people closer to your brand esp. when you tweet like a real person and not a corporate drone.  He has overextended himself a few too many times for my liking.  He spars with those that criticize him, instead of taking the high road.  He comes off as an a$$ a lot of times, and not only does that further fuel the trolls but it looks bad for the MAC.

Last year he was the subject of mocking homophobic mention by an Ohio fan.  Did he ignore it like most others would, let alone almost all PR professionals?  No.  He retweeted it and thanked them.  #prFAIL #DumbA$$


In that respect, he's quite entertaining and totally ripe for parody.  @FakeGuyMAC hits the nail right on the head.  I almost guarantee its an Ohio fan, unless its Sussman from HustleBelt.  Whomever it is, they know the MAC.
