The reason is because all game contracts require correct grammar.

I believe the MAC is increasing the amount of league games, which means cutting some non-conference games (Marshall).  I guess it doesn't make sense to keep the home and home just down the road.  However, we continue our home and home with the likes of Morgan State.

1. Two extra conference games to fit in.
2. osu wanted to play. Season-making road win > another win in Huntington.
3. DJ Cooper is gone, so we don't have any players trying to establish an NCAA all-time greatest stat line against your defense. Yet.
4. The new Marco sucks.
5. Your coach does things like this.
6. 94-57.
7. 44-7 (Don't care that it's football. Still the most fun I've ever had at a live sporting event.).

The underlying assumption is that stupd cow has a basketball team.

Nothing in recent history supports that assertion.

He's wrong if he thinks OHIO needs the Marshall football series. We set an attendance record at home last year without them. I would rather rotate ACC schools in Peden for 1 and 1's with basketball games on the road. Bob Huggins has talked about having his WVU squad play OHIO in Charleston every year. If we want to build a national brand at Ohio we don't have time for Marshall.

Really think it was just a scheduling conflict for 2013/14 with the new MAC schedule and the late add of Ohio State. Don't speculate too hard Marshall fans... these conflicts happen.  I'd expect they're talking on how to make it work in 2014 and beyond.

Congrats, you average a whopping 3000 more fans per game...for now. A few more mediocre seasons, and I will look for that to change.

And just for arguments sake...this is on the basketball board, we actually averaged 26 more people per basketball game. You guys ready to beg to get back in the MAC yet?

So a lot of folks in Huntington have been showing up to see some really &*^%$# basketball for awhile.

Uhhhh...we (6,932) averaged 1,400 more per basketball game than Terd (5,587).

But as long as we have the rulers out and we're measuring ourselves, a total of 238,773 butts were in seats in Terdistan for MBB (89,396) and FB (149,377) combined.

For OHIO, that number is 255,845 (124,782 MBB, 131,063 FB).

Is this not the winning team?

I guess I'm alone in thinking this, but I'm sad there is no game in this upcoming season.  Hopefully we'll pick up the series again next year.

I would miss the football rivalry more than I'll miss the b-ball game this year.  We've beaten them three straight and in two of them (last season and the post-season three years ago) they played like they wanted to be somewhere else (yes, the post-season game was a one-pointer, but most people who saw the game say that Terd's heads were on spring break).

It’s not as if Marshall hasn’t propped up Ohio’s RPI slightly in years when it was the stronger program.

Um... what?

I'm with you 100%, so you're not alone. This game makes too much sense to drop.

I think Chuck is over reacting (surprise). We didn't play in 05 and 07 either and the world didn't end. I'm sure this is just a temporary pause in the series.

Agree with this.

I hate to see the two teams not playing this year, but I expect the series to resume immediately.  I think this has everything to do with the MAC expanding its schedule.

As usual, Landon is trying to attribute the worst possible motives to Ohio.

Do you have a link to Huggins saying he wanted to play OU in Charleston every year?

Huggins did mentioned he would like to play The Ohio State University in Charleston at a WVU social outing in Charleston last year. They have scheduled similar type of games in Charleston against top programs like Florida in the past;  he said he would like to bring a top rank team or a national power into Charleston to play WVU every year.  Because of Big 12 basketball scheduling   commitments, the annual game with Marshall in Charleston will be moved to December instead of the usual January date. The January date was scheduled for the state legislature with Marshall and WVU splitting the tickets and a large allotment for the legislators.
