This would be a good time to release the basketball schedule.

Bummer.  Hopefully, somebody who appreciates being a Bobcat will take his spot.

WOUB just tweeted that he's been arrested. Although that's a bit misleading as the arrest happened in Seattle on August 20th.

Quick, someone tell McCormick that we need a SG of the future. It's not too late to de-commit from Miami.

Harley retweeted the tweet that says he is headed to Ohio. Apparently he was going to go to a post-graduate school.

And if it makes anyone feel better about losing, Adams, Bryson Pope is out at Kent State: http://www.ohio.com/blogs/kent-state/kent-state-flashes-1.285259/pope-out-hall-in-on-ksu-men-s-basketball-team-for-2013-14-1.423835

Quote of the article is "we wish him the best in his future endeavors". Hasnt this been covered before?

I don't wanna pile on and I don't wanna shortchange the program or coaching staff.  But this just didn't feel right from the get-go.  If the kid really was a legitimate talent, I could not understand why he came to Athens rather than a power conference school.  Mayhaps those schools knew something we didn't, either about his skills or the kid himself.  Oh well, we'll never know...

Anyone want to join me over on the volleyball board?  None of this crap ever seems to happen over there...

From my understanding he had a few incidents while at Kansas that led him to transfer out, so this isn't a huge surprise...

Do you really believe the staff didn't do its due diligence before signing this kid.  They spoke to the KU coaches and were not given anything negative on him.

My sense is an assault charge traditionally didn't get a player bounced from the team (here or anywhere else).  I appreciate the coaches cutting the cord.  Sends a good message to everyone, "you screw up. you are gone.  Even if you are a high profile player."

Is anyone else pleasantly surprised Christian released Rio given the reputation his Kent players had?

Just win baby! Not really, I was against that one from the get go! Too many kids on that team did things the right way.

Credit to Arkley for pressing WOUB on their reporting.

Hmmmmmm

That is opening a can of worms.

In the words of an HC." YOu just got to know when you take a chance on a kid that his talents are greater than his sins."  FOr one shining season AB's talent far outshone his sins......

Not sure what kind of response you are looking for there Optimist but I would not venture far down that road.

Rio's history is odd.
Us adding him was odd, but understandable.
The report of him being arrested, and then the retraction of that report, is odd.
Him leaving a week into the school year is odd.
The lack of explanation beyond the erroneous report is odd.
Us adding a incoming freshman recruit on August 28th is odd.

Regardless...Welcome to Khari Harley.

A few observations:
1) We knew this student had a history
2) We gave him a second chance
3) He leaves at a time that doesn't have any effect on the APR or team as he would have sat out this season anyway
4) Coaches must have known something was up weeks ago
5) At least the team had a Plan B with a player who can play right a way
6) Still need more guards

According to Arkley's excellent sleuthing on this subject, the Anrio Adams who was arrested wasn't the one formerly signed to the Ohio Basket Ball team; rather, it was his father.

That is kinda my point Borna....

We could have a lengthy chat about Armon... That's not my point. My point is that you can't rip Christian for taking a chance on a highly skilled player with off court issues when Groce did the exact same thing. Did it work out for Groce? I'd say so. Sure, Armon ended up not graduating... He also led us on a magical run and helped set in motion a series of events that led to Groce getting paid.

I bet Groce would take Armon on again 100x over. Also, I would argue Anrio had LESS off the court problems than Armon did coming in. It didn't work out. Fine. That's the chance you take...
