I was there for the Green and White volleyball game yesterday, and it's hard not to notice the new metal "rail" looking thing hanging below the audio equipment, running the length of the basketball floor.  Anybody know what it is?  Or what is its intended use?  It looks like something that is not a temporary install.

The only thing I know with certainty is that they're reconstructing the roof of the Convo.

..I really hope this is to enable the roof to support a hanging scoreboard. A man can dream

I actually thought about banners, but it would seem too low for that.

What direction is it running? Wondering if it could be some kind of track for a camera?

That's possible.  It would run end-to-end, basically basket-to-basket, right down the middle of the court.  It may be for something like that.

Brackets for stage lighting for the freshman convocation they're holding in the next week?  The stage is typically set up along the length of half of the floor, centered.

Darn - I was hoping this might refer to the clock that "hangs" off the wall in the concourse near the main entrance concession stand that has shown the same time and not been fixed in like what - 10 years?

How is that acceptable?  If it doesn't work, why not take it down?  Otherwise, fix it.

Funny.....I think if that every time I wash my hands at the Convo and try to get them dry before I go out and shake a few more hands. I am a fan of those Delightful Dyson Dryers. WHile that may not be feasible there are few times in my life that I am not in a public washroomand do not thing of those wimpy things at the Convo....especially when I see dryers that have a sponsorship plaque on them and I know the facility is paying  a reduced price or nothing for them to be installed....

These are the best things going.  Put an AttackCat or in this case Paw logo on them (you know, dry your paws), a small corporate logo and you're good to go.  Heck, I'd buy one.

what do we have? 3 0r 4 sets of bathrooms in the convo?

3 decent hi speed dryers per br. times 8 bathrooms is 24 max to replace dryers that have been there since 1971 or so?

say 500 bucks times 24 is 12k with a service life of 20 years.? Jees what a difference that would make. Just do it. or find sponsors and do it....can;t take that much .... I watch guys and gals walking out wiping their hands on their clothes every game. My girlfriend says she knows exactly where the ones that work with less than 3 hits on the button are....or at least work well enough that she can then wipe them on her pants to finish drying. Seems to be a reasonable upgrade....

It's the little things that make for the ultimate customer experience - like eating in a restaurant and raving about the meal.  Sure the food was good but things like comfortable seats, skilled utensil replacement, attentive waitstaff, etc. - the things that are often invisible but clearly there.  I have to admit that the staff in the Convo have done a pretty good job so far.  Perhaps what could be added is a director of customer/fan relations who takes care of the little things that add up to a big experience.

Maybe you guys could start a non-profit..."Dry Paws...working hard since 2013 to bring instantly dry hands to the Convo."

It's not the staff...it's that the facility is crumbling around them. The Convo is in need of some serious TLC...and if it doesn't get some soon, it's going to get really bad. Bathrooms, concessions, the Hall of Fame area, the seats - you name it - are getting quite dated.

Saw somewhere that the Hall of Fame is one of the 1st projects to be tackled with the Walter money.

I actually think everything looks just fine. Not sparkling new, of course, but fine. The thing that would make the Convo look even better is getting 13,000 butts in the seats to sell that place out. (A guy can dream...)

Honestly I think crowds of 10,000+ regularly reached in a few years. There's actually excitement behind the program, and we keep fielding winning teams.

I had never used one of those Dyson hand dryers until I used one at the Louisville Slugger factory. They are a miracle and I'd like to start my own version of the Gideons, except with hand dryers for public bathrooms.

It's probably a MAC championship banner. I understand we haven't seen one in a while and forgot what it looks like ;)

I agree. We are spending like that is where we want to be. Just keep winning.

The Convo has a GREAT atmosphere when you get 7,000+ in it. Every 1,000 more on top of that just amps it up another level.... Paint the concourse green, paint the bathrooms green, put some money in concessions and the Convo is perfect for this program. Oh, and add a hanging video screen!

It could be spruced up without spending a large amount of money.  Don't understand why we don't do it.  Gotta be budgetary reasons.

I think the Richmond model is pretty good for any major renovations for the Convo.  I could see capacity being reduced from 13,000 to 10,500 maybe.  I'd like to see some corporate suites on a limited level, even though we don't have much of a corporate presence in SE Ohio.  Video boards could be installed as suggested by other posters on here.
