My guess would be morgan state is a home and home.  I don't see what is wrong with scheduling that game...it is better than paying a crap team to come play us....

We played them in the Convo a couple years ago (December 2011, if I recall). My guess is that this is the return game. It's going to be tough to go into their gym and get a "W"...kind of a lose-lose scenario if you ask me.

Based on Arkley's article, I'm pretty happy with the way this schedule is shaping up--with the exception of no game vs. Marshall.  Hope the Herd is back on the schedule the following season.

We have some really nice opponents at home.

Agreed. While the days of Wisconsin, WVU, Virginia, DePaul, etc. in the Convo may be gone...it's nice to have some quality mid-majors coming in. UMass, Valpo and Northern Iowa are all teams that most basketball fans have heard of and recognize as solid programs. Probably the best OOC home schedule we've had in a decade.

Wow, I must respectfully disagree with you, Jeff.  All I see are a couple of OK opponents in UMASS and Valpo on the home schedule.  UMASS is at least has a name that sounds important (rather than a directional state school) and casual fans may recognize Valpo.  But the other schools?  Snore....Does anybody really think that because Northern Iowa went to the CIT semis that they're an interesting team?

Look, I know it's tough to get anyone to come to Athens (which is why it will be very, very difficult to get this team to the "next level" no matter who we recruit).  But we must do better!  Schaus and Christian need to be creative, get down on their knees and beg if they have to, and get at least 1 "name" school in every year.  What will it take to get Xavier here, just once?  How about Dayton?  Pester 'em until they're tired of taking yr calls.  Be creative!  Davidson will have 2 kids from Columbus on the team for the next couple years...call Coach McKillop and remind him that the convo is less than 90 mins from Cbus!  St Joes will have a kid from Dublin and a coach in Martelli that even casual fans may have heard of...have we called him?  And dang it, drive over to Illinois and camp on John Groce's doorstep until he agrees to come here for 1 game...this is a no brainer.

All of this is right off the top of my head...I KNOW there are other opportunities out there, I just don't know how aggressively we are going after them...Schaus and Christian have all sorts of friends in the business and must be owed at least one or two favors...time to call 'em in.

Nation's Capital Chapter will probably be planning an outing to Baltimore to support the team in this game.  And encouraging alumni to travel to Richmond for the game there!

Story in Dispatch today said the OHIO/to$u game is confirmed. Will be in November - but the exact date not firm yet. I like getting them early as possible so this could be good. Mentioned the last OHIO trip there '94 and OUr win - kudos included per Trent and Boals big game.

That makes it a Tuesday game.  Work permitting, I should be able to and plan on making the game.  Too bad not a lot of students probably won't make the trip :/

It's also the same night as the Ohio @ BG football game.

Maybe this is ESPN's doing... An all-Ohio double header! I'd be willing to watch both games on ESPN back to back. I'd even settle for ESPN2.

think of it this way- who should get your money- a MAC school, or the Beast That Will Never Die?

When I look at Bowling Green's spending on men's basketball, I am forced to wonder if they even want my money.

My guess is that a early season hoops game will be featured on the Big Ten Network.

Incorrect response.  The BG football game should be for high stakes.  You'll be at it.

I'll be in BG taking advantage of a Bobcats game so close to home...will be checking the score in Columbus often though I'd imagine.

It's exciting to play OSU....but the BG football game will definitely (hopefully) have more on the line. I'd love to attend both - but a potential shot at clinching the MAC East makes me learn toward the football game for now.

The game at Oakland will be on Saturday, December 7.

EDIT: According to our ticketing website, there are some recent updates to the home slate.

Northern Iowa will be 11/9. It should be the season opener and it will also be Dad's weekend. That should be a fun game. Evansville will be Saturday, 11/30. UMass will be Wednesday, 12/18. Longwood will be Monday, 12/30. There are also home games on 11/17, 11/23, 11/25 and 12/14. That makes five weekend home games.

It seems the Cal Poly game is off, according to Mercer's schedule release. Cal Poly was supposed to be in, along with Ohio, Mercer, Evansville and Valparaiso, a round robin "tournament" that happens every year so teams can play more games, but Cal Poly pulled out.
