He can probably make more money working with computers than playing b-ball anyway.  And if it makes him happy, all the better.  She should realize that his pro ball career wouldn't last long anyway, and let him do something he wants.

Agreed.  Obviously not the same thing but Walt Offutt passed up a pretty lucrative short term career in Europe to start a long term one here in the States.  I know our natural reaction is to rag on anything Akron but if Zeke Marshall has a passion other than basketball he should pursue it. He seems like a bright kid. Hopefully he'll use the education that basketball provided him.
+1. His bio said he was pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, which assuming he graduated (I believe he did) ought to serve him well. If he enjoys it, I hope he's able to make a good career of it - few things are more rewarding than being able to put food on the table doing something you enjoy.

+1.  That is about as good of a life as I can imagine.

I don't see a lot of benefit in slamming a guy who was talented enough to help usher the Bobcats out of the postseason.

I agree with most posters here that his heart never really seemed fully into basketball. He showed a lot of flashes of brilliance that make me wonder just how good he could have been if he loved the game. He had soft hands, ran really well, and had a decent offensive game. Most of all, he obviously had (has?) a lot of untapped potential -- he could get a lot better with more coaching, playing time and bulk, but the passion seems utterly lacking. I hope he enjoys a successful career away from the court, assuming that's what he really wants.

I can attest to this.

all of it? Selected portions? Just the opinions, the subjective analysis or some shred of information contained within?

I'm not sure how sad some of your lives must be to spew vitriol at a kid who just stumbled while trying to live his dreams.

To be honest.

I don't see much spewing here

I don't see much that could be classified as vitriolic.

I see guys who are lauding him for following his own inner voice

I don't think the stumble came while trying to live "his" dreams.

I don't think anyone here racking on anything Akron should surprise anyone nor do I think it diminishes their lives or the content of their daily existence.

You seem to be having a little negativity in your last few posts. Reminds me of Morarity in Kelly s Heroes

I think the common thought is that it was never his dream.  I agree with your sentiment is though.

I agree there were some positive posts. However, a few were out of line and I called them out.
