He won't make us forget DJ, but a few more games like tonight will quiet those who think he's only a back-up.

Agreed.  In the past, he was a terrific backup to DJ who could bring an element of quickness and intensity the other teams would struggle with as their players were more worn down.  Now, he is the go-to guy.  I think he can take many MAC point guards completely out of their game when he turns it up on defense.

This is his team. Kellogg is better than in past years and Maurice could become an NBA prospect, but there is no doubt that Stevie raises the level of team execution when he is on the floor.

I attended the game with a long time Ohio State fan who also appreciates good basketball no matter who plays it.  Without any prompting from me, he stated near the end of the game that, "Stevie Taylor was the best player on the floor tonight."  He also thought you could make a case that Nick was the second best.

What I love about Stevie is there is no stage to big for him.  He is not intimidated and that's what this team needed tonight.

Dare I say, in that regard, is Stevie "DJ-esque"?

the thing is, you cannot take away the foul shots.  Craft is probably the "craftiest" player in the country.  He's figured out how to take advantage of the way games are being reffed in the early going.  In the second half he did a great job drawing fouls on drives to the basket.  You could take a tape of Craft to every team in the country, and each coach would use it as a teaching aid for guard play under the new rules' interpretations.

I'm pretty sure the last two games have cemented that.  He's the general on the floor.  Willis looks like he may need to adjust to the role of becoming the best 6th man in the MAC.

I agree.  Some of Stevie's drives to the basket and layups or little stop and pop jumpers were things of beauty.  Not to mix sports, but I didn't see any of that kind of intensity or desire to excel on the football field tonight.  I hereby officially proclaim that it's baketball season!  (Though I'm still rooting for the football 'Cats, it's basketball season that really counts at this juncture.)

I made that same typo a few weeks ago.  Last time I blamed it on my autocomplete and spell checker.  This time I blame it on my overwrought brain that's still recovering from watching OHIO lose two games at the same time.

Stevie was playing possessed last night, I hope we see that kind of game from him a lot this season.  If so, Willis will be fighting for minutes.  I don't recall ever seeing Stevie that aggressive trying to get in the paint and attacking the defense, I loved it.  Big kudos to Nick Kellogg, also.  I expect big things from that duo this season.

And he fouled out a bunch of our bigs.  Craft was darn good last night.

If Stevie isn't your favorite Bobcat athlete right now, you're doing it wrong.

I can think of a couple occasions when he should have/could have had assists when the receiver of the ball didn't keep of their end of the bargain.  Still, I agree that the PG needs more than 1 APG most of the time.

Temper your emotions bobcat fans!  If we have to rely on Stevie and Nick as in last night our season will not go as well as I'm hearing on here.  There is very little support around those 2 right now.  Ndour has skills, but seeing him in person last night left me thinking even the MAC can keep him under control.  He is very thin and basically gets bumped around and off balance alot.  I can see why he ends up outside so much for a big.  I came away thinking that OSU isn't close to being the #10 team in the country.  I didn't think we looked that good (for a MAC team) either.  If it takes "UGLY" to win games night in and out, then we may be OK.

Think back to all the optimism early on in football.  This bd. has us as perennial champs every yr. and then it ends in disappointment.  I mean the predict our record thread, and some of the other threads kinda make me sick that allude to how good we are before we ever get there.  And now we have a buy, sell, or trade thread on our BB players!  Really!!??  Can't we just let these kids play?  If I was sure they never read some of this garbage, then maybe I wouldn't say much.  Normally I don't.  I, for one, am sick of some of the stuff that people come up with on here.

I know I'll get blasted for my comments, usually do.  That's why I rarely post!  It seems I have not made it into the "club" just yet!  So, I'll just sit back, watch the season play out, read the positives at the beginning of the season, then read the negatives as the season progresses, and look back at all the hype that was stated only 2 games into the season.  I hear "moral" victory because we lost by 10 to tOSU.  Will it be moral victory when we lose to a MAC school?

I'm not going to blast you, but I do think you need to see Maurice in person.  He's going to be very solid at worst.  We'll likely to get more from him than we did from Ivo in his final two years.  In case you missed it, he did have 20pts and 5 boards on Saturday's home opener.

You mean he got knocked around by two guys who are 6'11"/250 and 6'8"/240?  Shocker!!!!

He is gonna be more than fine in the MAC.

I have no idea what this means.  Ohio State will likely end up 2nd or 3rd in the B1G, be ranked in the top 10 for most of the year, and be a 2 or 3 seed in the Dance.  We took an early uppercut and then delivered body blows for the next 30 minutes and hung right in it.

Losing to Kent or WMU is nowhere close to the same.

OU Country - I was at the game last night, in person!  I'm not saying he will not have his games that will be good.  I am saying that I read on here a comment about him playing in the NBA.  What I saw in person was nowhere near that!  His body is far, far away from an NBA body, IMHO.  I also saw his home opener, so am very aware of his stats.  My real point is that most on the board have the highest of expectations early on and then get very negative as the season progresses (ex: football board right now).  Let's not put this team out there on a pedestal 2 games into the yr.  I have no doubt that Maurice will be a solid player, but I'm not going to say "today" that he will lead us to a MAC championship!

and OZcat - If OSU is the #10 best team in the country right now I'll eat the ballots for dinner tonight.  I saw them have trouble w/ our zone last night.  They were not a good shooting team last night away from the rim.  They may well be 3rd best in the BIG by the end of season but at this point I say they have a long ways to go!

Shut the board down guys, this guy doesn't like us discussing the team and it's players.  Now shut up and stop talking about things, just let them play.

It's not about being part of a "club."  You are on a board that talks about our Bobcats.  This is a forum to go to talk about Bobcat Athletics.  Everything you mentioned is ALL ABOUT BOBCAT ATHLETICS.  We'll make predictions, evaluations, and opinions on here.  That is why this site is here.
