UMass is currently ahead of New Mexico in the 2nd half. Looks like this could be one of the bigger home games in recent history. UMass already beat LSU and Nebraska and is 4-0. If we find a way to pull it off it would go a long way into securing an at large bid. I wish the students would be there for it though. Pretty disappointed about that. Maybe there will still be some sort of turn out because of the caliber team we're playing

$5 tickets, per our website. It looks like the sales team is making this a family/holiday game. I would expect a 7-8Kish turnout.

IF UMass is ranked, i'm driving down to Athens to see my boys play for sure. Too bad its not when were not on break. Whens the last time a ranked team has been to the Convo?

Also UMass will beat us as they can not only rebound the ball, but shoot it extremely well, like over .500.

It's going to be a big game, for sure, but a MAC team getting an at at-large berth is highly unlikely.  When was the last time this league got two teams in?  Barring a team with a ridiculous record (like 28-4 off the top of my head) not winning in Cleveland I highly doubt this happens.  I remember when Davidson with Steph Curry had a 20-0 conference record the year they went to the Elite 8.  Before they won their conference tourney they were listed as a bubble team.  At 20-0 in conference...with near wins early in the season against Duke, UNC, and NC St...and they were still a bubble team not guaranteed of a spot in the dance unless they won their conference tourney.  A UMASS win would be awesome but I don't think it would get us in the dance.

The way they are playing I'm sure they will be a Top 25 team by the time they get to Athens. Chaz williams is gonna be a mess to handle.

MAC looks like its improved a good deal this year.  I'm saying the odds of two teams this year are close to the odds of NIU making it to a second straight BCS Bowl.  But, I don't think it'll be OHIO that has to worry about it.  It'll be whoever finishes runner-up to us!

All NIU needs to do is win out, and then have Boise State knock off Fresno State in the MWC championship game.  Both are well within the realm of possibility.

I complained about the home schedule.  Thanks to UMASS, I gotta say now that the home schedule is looking more interesting.  Agree that the Min-men may be ranked next week.

going into Friday the combined record of the 12 teams UMass plays in OOC was 29-15. If you take out Boston, NIU and Fiami its 27-5.

That's a strong schedule, even with the 4 MAC teams they're forced to play. A lot of their bball fans are not happy about the MAC arrangement but EMU and Ohio should balance out NIU and Fiami somewhat.

What's wrong with our home schedule? Northern Iowa, Valpo, Mercer and Evansville are all solid programs who will help our guys get ready for the MAC games.

I think the people who are complaining want us to bring in big names such as Illinois, Kansas, Xavier, Marquette, etc.  There are some who believe (for some strange reason) that we cannot possibly win in the MAC unless we completely fill our non-conference schedule with teams like that.

UMass is #1 in the RPI according to Real Time and #38 in the coaches poll before beating New Mexico this week. They should be knocking on the door of the Top 25 next week before they play EMU, BYU, NIU. The EMU game for UMass is on the road but BYU and NIU are at home. They are capable of walking into The Convo ranked as high as 20.

My worry is that EMU will beat them before we have chance.  Also, what's the predicted turnout for UMass@EMU? ; I predict all-time record crowd of 1,001, including the EMU mascot.

UMass snuck in at #24 today.

When's the last time we played a ranked opponent in the Convo?

We have 3 games before this as does UMass. I would say 2/3 for each are tough but very winnable.

If we both manage to win all heading in...
