Seriously you guys. No one wants to give me props for my great Ivo Baltic joke? I really thought I had a good one there.

Its easy to say the chemistry is good when you are winning basketball games.

Seems like the players and coaches want to take every opportunity to rip on last years core. Not helping anything or anyone.

Every opportunity? Did I miss comments that were made before this article?

From 2500 miles away, it was obvious that we had five individuals playing for the most part last year, instead of a team.

We weren't close to the Sweet Sixteen year.

Being close to the Sweet Sixteen team year was a reasonable expectation given that almost all of our minutes played in the 16 year returned last year.

Yet still managed to be co-MAC champions.  I hope the good chemistry this year takes us farther.

What comes first, Chemistry or results?

No one thought that 2 of 6 getting minutes would see their production drop off a cliff.  If those two slightly improve year over year and OHIO would have had all the chemistry needed and lightning in a bottle.  Whip the ball in and see a power move to the hoop and another assist or kick it out to the corner and watch a 3 drained and there is your chemistry.  Instead you got Fade and Clank!

But that was last year and history--perhaps revised the way I saw it!

The improved chemistry started in the summer with the freshmen being good people who bought into the program, Mo's obvious talent and winning personality, and seniors who wanted to have their own identity all working together.  The workouts and weight rook work all provided the opportunity for everyone to mesh.  Winning obviously helps the chemistry to self perpetuate.

Why do people go to the movies, videos, watch tv, watch live games, go to games.  For the emotional attachment and involvement.

Sweet Sixteen team--yeah, that worked.  That team balled.  That team was O H I O.

Didn't get that from last year's team.

Haven't seen any of this year's action but I'm loving the reports.

I'd rather lose with a team that has heart than win with a team with no heart.

I'm not one to speak in vague general terms, so I'll come out and say that I thought DJ and Reggie were a little 2 man clique that created a bit of a divide. And I believe all seniors were upset with the decision to not hire Dustin Ford, and as a result didn't give JC much of a chance.

I'll say again that I'm surprised by how negative people view last year's basketball season. It was a good season overall, just couldn't win that championship. People talk like it was an absolute disaster.

after the sweet 16 run, nearly everybody thought that the team would improve and do better last year. It didn't happen. Take the regular season championship and move on. Not much sense dwelling on the past. While not naming names, I still think its best to just move on and not spend much time on what went wrong in public.

Overall, the results from last year were good.  MAC regular season title, 24-10 record.  Positives included our MAC record on the road and tying for a MAC regular season title.

However, the team didn't attain some goals that we expected from a team that finished 29-7 the year before.

Biggest disappointment to me was our record vs. good teams on the road.

But some of you post like we really had an "off" year.  Hard to understand the reasoning.  To win consistently in our MAC road games we must have been "ballin" at some point along the way.

Jeff, our standards and our expectations, are not what they used to be.  That, I think, is good.  And, I believe, those expectations are shared by this year's team, as well.  A MAC championship is just a stepping stone, not an ultimate goal in and of itself.  It seems to me that JC is really building a team around his philosophy and with students who buy into what he is doing.  The recruitment of Owens, I think, shows the direction in which he has this program headed.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Owens is the first 4-star recruit Ohio basketball has had since the latter days of the Snyder era with such notables as Ulice Payne, Larry Slappy, Walter Luckett, etc.   How do you spell, Final Four baby!

I didn't expect us to go back to the Sweet Sixteen... or even to the NCAA Tournament for that matter. I expected us to finish second in the East, so the season was not a disappointment to me. The Denver loss bummed me out, though.

Last season was far from a disaster.  No one raised the k-word.

It was disappointing to me.  I didn't see many moments of really good ball.  Never thought that we had a chance to beat 'kron.  Certain players faded away.  Others just weren't as dynamic as during the Sweet.  I'm not at all saying that I expected 16 again.  But that was a reasaonalby realistic possbility ya had to think (honestly, you did).  And we didn't particularly build on the prior year, which, with everyone returning...

I got to thinking about a comment in the article that the chemistry is better this year because the players hang out together more.  DJ had a big change in his personal life last year when his son was born.  That means he had less time to hang out with his teammates, and maybe that caused a general drifting apart.  Also, when you become a parent it affects the way you deal with other people, too.  This all is sort of between the lines in this piece from WOUB.  Maybe it had something to do with last year; maybe not.  Just a thought.  (I haven't read all the posts, so I'm not sure if this was brought up earlier.)
