I think this one is going to be a classic in the series and a slugfest.

Miami beat Akron and Kent State back to back. When was last time a MAC team won three in a row vs Akron, Kent State and Ohio in MAC basketball. That is what Miami is trying to do Saturday.

If I were still living in Cincy this is the type of game I'd be making the trek across 32 for. A couple pumps at Jackie Os or some other locale with OUCountry and then we pack the Roundhouse and make some noise, baby. LFG.

We should win every game at home. And we'll need to, because there aren't many left and we're butt cheeks on the road.

Their size - and girth - will be a problem.

Mirambeux is running about 3 bills these days. Looks like that old wrestler from WWE. Viscera / Mabel.

3 bills? More like 3.7 bills.

Saturday against Miami. 53 and sunny in Athens. Sibs weekend crowd. All of you casual fans in the Cleveland/Cincy/Columbus areas that only make 1 or 2 a season, come to this one. Hoping to see an atmosphere like we used to have. Can't wait.

We'll have a crowd. Will we have atmosphere? hard to say. Sibs crowds are normally more sedate and it's still two 11-10 teams. Waiting for the students to care, but can't make them care. two Saturdays ago, we might have had 3k in the house against EMU. I hope we can actually double that Saturday.

I hate that I have to hope for 6k on a freaking Saturday against miami.

Have they ever considered GA for games?

Get everyone pushed down into the lower bowl area?

Kent State gets 2,000 people in the building and it looks like Cameron Indoor. OU gets 7K and it looks like Saturday morning at the JCC. Except less loud.

OU leads the league in attendance every year and you'd never think it. We REALLY have to re-think this. I've been complaining about it since I was a student, so I don't see it happening, but the Convo should be as intimating of a place to play in as any mid-major in the country. And we're fine with it, being absolutely not.

Last night was another example of a full student crowd and about 11 people behind the benches. It's like this every single game. That's the season ticket section, how many of those people live in Athens? How many of those people attend more than 25% of games? Of the game attendance, how much is season ticket holders? I've always thought season tickets was more of just a donation to the program. A lovely gesture. Certainly we can still take into account premium seating for season ticket holders, IF they attend, hell, move them down courtside, but it's just absolutely the worst atmosphere and even worse on TV.

They were showing the different views on the Hadaway dunk, running down the break-away looking at the 14 professors and a few janitors who showed up, and then running back after the dunk with the entire lower bowl filled with a jumping student section in matching white shirts. It could not have been any starker of a contrast.

Shab has been saying for years that those seats that go unused in the lower bowl need to have some kind of resale option so we can make the Convo at least look good on TV. Also provides an opportunity who normally sits up high to splurge a little more for seats down low.

There's always been an option to resell tickets. It's just a matter of actually doing it, then finding willing buyers.

That's why I suggested GA.

If it's about money for people who have season tickets, and they're not showing up anyway... ? That's a different hurdle.

Need a top-down re-vamping of the ticketing process.

But what % of season ticket holders show up to each game? The area behind the two benches hasn't been full since Gary Trent's jersey retirement. Season ticket section could be moved up down side to side, moved to a different section, moved courtside, etc. Whatever it may be.

Should be a way to confirm that you're using your ticket, if you choose, or not - so that your seat can be given up to people in the upper bowl area.

We need a new way of thinking.

All I want is the ability to buy a seat in any section of the arena on a single game basis. I find it hard to believe there are that many season ticket buyers simply not showing up. It used to be the lower ring sections behind the baskets were not single game, but that has changed. Now do the same for the sections behind the benches. Price it accordingly so it doesn't undercut the season ticket holders. I'd pay $40-$50 for one of those seats.

I'm a season ticket holder that makes about half the games. Sometimes I sell them, sometimes I give them away, sometimes they just go unused.

I understand the mission but it's hard to envision a solution. How could the athletic dept possibly get the info of who is using their seats ahead of time? I often don't know if i am going or not until a couple hours prior.

About the only feasible action that could help the issue is to significantly increase season ticket prices and decrease single game ticket prices. Then more people would forego season tickets in favor of just buying ala carte. But I am pretty sure the athletic department isn't gonna sign up for that.

I'd love to see some raw data on (A) how many season ticket holders there are (B) where those are located and (C) how often they are used.

The Cats are 4-1 vs out-of-state MAC teams this season, only 1-3 vs in-state MAC teams. Gotta get that monkey off our backs.

Let's do some math here.

Family of four. Single game ticket = $17 with the fee.
That's $68 plus 5.00 to park = $73.00
Dinner before the game at somewhere reasonable like DP Dough = $40
We're up to $113 and that is if the brats don't pester you into $20 for cokes and popcorn which would bump the total up to $133.00

If a townie works at Walmart or Kroger, can they really pony up $133?

How about some half price single game tickets with a concession stand voucher thrown in and maybe even (gasp!) free parking.

Wait... I see townies showing up for basketball again! Amazing how that works.

Does seem like they could designate some lower bowl tickets for single game purchases.

But, I'm guessing if you posted a request on here you might end up a lower bowl ticket texted to you for free....
