Different play. I felt like a jerk if I pointed that one out too. I really can't believe he got away with that. The 800 UNCA fans in the gym went nuts went that turnover wasn't called.

There were two pretty egregious missed calls.  I think the double-dribble, hippity-hop, etc. was by TJ when he went into the lane, lost the handle then fed Wilkins(?) in the corner for a three.  The other was Bean's uncalled over-and-back where he stepped across the center line, then stepped back.  The announcer on UNCA's broadcast graciously said the ball might not have cross the line, but it looked like an easy O&B to me.

I thought the refs were mediocre at best.  They let a lot of contact go uncalled, but then called ticky-tack stuff.

watching live, I didn't think the ball crossed the half court line.

Yes. Glad you guys made the trip over. Too bad we don't play in the South more often.

Sight unseen, I thought Bean would at least be able to run the offense, get people where they needed to be, make good decisions, be a decent scoring threat and be a plus while he was out there. Haven't seen any of that.

Bean has had some real issues. He seems real choppy & uncomfortable on defense. Sometimes I've noticed that his base seems too wide when guarding the ball handler. He's shown some flashes on offensive although TOs are a problem.

Stevie has had his struggles offensively but he's able to play smooth/consistent defense and get some steals.

When you wrote this I had a vision of ST in his defensive stance yesterday waiting for their 3 ball shooter the second half when, ironically,  this Instagram pops up. Sneer tops it off.

If he could do all those things, he probably would not have been looking to transfer to a Mid Major.

For a backcourt violation to be called, the player, not the ball, has to have established both feet into the frontcourt with possession. This rule was changed several years ago.

We need to be better at point guard and we seem to be a scorer and/or penetrator or two from being an elite team.

That said, I like this team a whole lot more than this year's football bunch--'cause I see teamwork and refusal to give up and getting most of one's talent on the hardwood.  In a big picture, non-specific kinda way, I like this team.

Jon Smith jumped center to start yesterday's game.  Does he always do that--how come Ndour doesn't?

And, Setty passed up a straight on shot from about 8 feet late in the first half.  Gotta be comfortable taking that shot, need him to pull the trigger on that.

Jon jumps every game. I would guess he wins 95% of the opening tips. He jumps so quickly, even giving up 3"-5" he somehow gets to it first.

About the only tips he loses are when there is a bad toss up

(Under "point guard play") - We seem to be showing some love for Jon, who has been one of my favorites for some time...I conjure up an image of Reggie Lewis - blocking MJs shots FIVE times in one game with his long arms and quick ups. If he could shoot just a little bit he'd get a look in the league.

Setty: It's the shot KVK took and hit..more often than not. Need Setty to fill that role and be more aggressive.

And Smith, and Ndour (had a 10 ft clanker vs UNCA)

NDour also hit a 10' baseline jumper in front of our bench with under 1:00. It was the nail in the coffin. For such a big guy, he is smooth with that shot.
