Student move in is Sunday, and that means traffic will be heavy, parking will be at premium, and Uptown restaurants will face a double whammy with pre-game eaters and parents buying the kids one last decent meal before heading back to the empty nest. Frankly, I never understood the timing of this ritual, as the kid was just home for six weeks, the beers mysteriously disappearing from my refrigerator as well as the gas in my car, and I couldn't wait to have control of my TV remote back, not shell out for an afternoon at Seven Sauces. Save that deal for 3 weeks from now when Mom misses her little angel and the ramen noodles have either run out or been ruined by an infestation.

Weather should not be a factor. Much like Reggie McAdams.

If Keith Dambrot can do one thing well, it’s getting players to buy into the snake oil he’s selling. On Tuesday, he told assembled media that if players weren’t going to play hard defense, they were going to sit. Carmelo Betencourt bought in so hard that he forgot that hard defense can result in fouls and if you get 5 fouls, you have to sit; then he forgot that you don’t have to sit down for a little while, you have to sit down for the rest of the game. Coach Dambrot was apparently to busy thinking how he would work  “I coached Lebron” into the post-game and sent poor Carmelo to the table to check back in. Luckily, the scorekeepers of Muncie, Indiana, are able to count to five and told him he needed to sit down again.

Ohio’s lost three in a row to these guys, and if they’re going to end that, they're going to have to focus on playing ball and not fall for the mind games of a heated rivalry. Zippy managed to get entangled in a pair of double technicals against Ball State, and neither involved Demetrius Treadwell. That's tremendous focus.

This is the best character charade on the net! KUDOS - love reading these! Outstanding wit.

One minor point of error - 7 Sauces was never open in the afternoon................

Driving back from Virginia on Saturday. Me and two other members of the OZone will be whipping up a tifo for the game. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

I thought the O Zone already had one? The "Best Fans in the MAC" thing you roll out pregame. Will be interested to see what this new addition might be.

Yeah, but that was made by the marketing department and not us students, and there's a few of us that were talking about doing something like this before that banner was made. There's a time and place for both.

EDIT: I can't wait to walk into Jo-Ann and buy waaaaaay too much fabric.

the 5 mother sauces are Béchamel, Hollandaise, Tomato, Veloute and Espagnole, not sure what the other 2 would be.

Actual conversation I had this morning:

My five year old son: "Daddy, when does Ohio play the Rabbits"
Me: "What?"
Son: "You know the Joeys"
Me:  "Akron?"
Son: "Yes, Akron, the Rabbits"
Me:  "Sunday at 6, and that is a kangaroo, not a rabbit."
Son: "Oh, ok."

Just win.  I don't care by how many points or how pretty or how ugly, just win.  If Akron's shooting the ball better than they have been lately, I expect a difficult game.  If they continue to struggle as they have lately, I think we can win comfortably.

I, for one, still remember what Kretzer did last year here at home.  They still have some shooters, I just hope they remain cold.

When we went to the MAC championship game last year my wife, not familiar with "Zippy", looked up at the logo on the score board before the game and jokingly asked "Are we playing the donkeys?".

FakeJeffMcKinney t-shirts? I'll buy one. FJM has blown past @FakeGuyMAC and @RussHeartsOhio. Not as epic as @GoffsBeard, but gaining on him.

"I believe the key to this game will be the play of Kretzer.
If memory serves me right this kid played great against us last year.
Stop him and we win.
They are very weak at the PG spot, the most important position in college basketball.

GO BOBCATS"

Well...they haven't had consistent play at the PG position...but at times Nyles has a good game, shoots the ball well. Diggs can be an absolute train wreck when he plays the point.

I agree with Fake Jeff that you can't underestimate this Akron team despite their recent struggles. Once they get it going and straighten out their distribution issues, they are going to be a load in the MAC.

They still have great team size. We will be smaller than them re: Forsythe and Johnson, so we have to compensate with quickness.

Zip fans apparently are throwing in the towel. Zipnation.org is just down right depressing. I was actually hoping they would bring a few fans down to Athens tomorrow night. All 4 of my seats will be filled tomorrow night!!!!! Can't wait. GO OHIO!!!!

I noticed that too. They seem to think the season is already done. Weird...

I found their message board weird too.  It's not even that they think the season is going down the tubes; we probably get more posts when that is going on than when we're winning unless we beat Marshall (football.)

They aren't even talking about us.  Here is a thread discussing the game:

http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?showtopic=30698

The first post is about the lack of discussion of the game.  Then there's a few posts... that have nothing to do with the game but where it is broadcasted.

I recall Ndour last season commenting on how he looked forward to testing his talents vs Tree.  That time has come!

I'm looking forward to Smith and Ndour defending the paint.  Which Bobcats will defend Diggs and Harney if they are on the floor at the same time?

Let's defend the perimeter tightly and keep the Zips in their shooting funk; pick off the misses to avoid the 2nd chance opportunities.  The Zips are not rebounding well so perhaps a few stick backs by Smith, Ndour and TJ.

I found the opening to their "game thread" hilarious

"While we don't share the kitten fans obsession with us, we probably should start up a thread and discuss the game."

It really isn't an obsession as much as Ohio actually having a passionate fanbase that cares about the program and is intelligent to identify rivals and key games on the schedule.

I look forward to taking over their high school gym later this season like Ohio fans took over Kent's high school gym this past weekend.

It is a shame Akron cannot get a real arena built. That is absolutely holding that program back, but that is a discussion for another thread.

Beat Kron.
