As the residents within the Ohio Bobcat IMG Radio footprint are compressed by the crippling inches dropped by Winter Storm Hercules, the thoughts of the faithful turn to traveling south for the last non-conference road trip of the year and the long-awaited 2012 Bracket Buster return game.

Once this snow ends, roads should clear quickly for those making the trip. All vehicle occupants should wear sunglasses for this drive, as glare off freshly fallen snow is a major cause of eye fatigue. When choosing sunglasses, price and appearance should never trump function. Sure, I’d get more lovin’ if I sported some Top Gun Ray-Bans; or I’d make many more dramatic impressions with some David Caruso CSI:Miami (FL) shades. But for my money, nothing beats a pair of Kent Tekulve Blu-Blockers.

Asheville is coming off a 39-point drubbing of Montreat College on Tuesday. This wasn’t one of those Southern-Champion Bible College deals either, as Montreat is regionally accredited, which is very important to Tim Burke. Do not take this game lightly. Asheville has now won five straight games and is hard to beat in Kimmel Arena; they are 30-6 all time there.

Kimmel Arena is a blueprint for what MAC teams should aspire to have. It’s an intimate arrangement with fantastic acoustics. It has two video boards and a center hung scoreboard. It boasts a digital scorers table with a working 35-second clock. The arena has two large concession stands, both with televisions. And do not look down on the Big South Conference; they have an internet TV network and are not afraid to use it.

I hope this snowstorm doesn't interrupt anyone's travel plans. Getting ugly out there the further you press East.

Excellent use/mention of Kent Tekulve.  Give yourself a beer and a weak ground out to third off of the old sidearmer.

Good opportunity for a quality road win. We are a veteran team and need to take control and bring home the "W" This bunch is fun to watch. Their growth and progress as a team defensively is what I like.

Not much buzz on here about this game. Am I the only one worried?

I'm worried before every game and road games in particular.  They've been really inconsistent and we haven't exactly been a road juggernaut.  They give us a ton of offensive rebounds so I'm looking for Jon Smith to have a big game if we are to win.

UNCA has two impressive wins...on the road at College of Charleston and at a good USC Upstate.

Hard to tell about their recent five game winning streak due to non Div I opponents, but their home win over UNC Wilmington was solid.

Overall, they have good team size compared to most Big South teams.

A quick look at their stat sheet indicates good defensive numbers re: opponents FG percentage. However, they are in the negative on assist/turnover ratio and opponents are in the positive. Hope we can exploit that advantage.

Sounds like we will have a decent road contingent of fans there today. Wish I could have made this trip but it wasn't in the cards.

I am listing through the new phone system for the first time. I'm glad it wasn't my phone that was the problem.

Bobcats down by 12 at half.  UNC-Ashville (Andrew Rowsey in particular) shooting lights out in the first half.   The big news is Ricardo Johnson however.  He hurt his ankle midway through the first and it doesn't look good.  I'm not a doctor but it looked like he broke it to me.  I hope I'm wrong.

Great call about Rowsey. Gritty win...faced adversity and fought through it.
