It wasn't quite as bad as Winthrop last year (worst game I have ever seen, personally), but not far behind.

Wasn't there a thread a couple days ago about how we were going to the NCAA tournament as an at large with 4-5 losses for the year, pretty funny. Setty and Willis are pretty useless, I'd play Campbell 20 minutes a game just for the experience for next year because Setty has no upside on offense.

Setty isn't on this team for his offense anyways. That is the biggest misconception about basketball. Everybody thinks that all five players on the team need to be complete basketball players or world beaters. That couldn't be further from the truth. What really needs to happen is everyone needs to learn their role within the team. Once that happens, the team will play better.

I haven't been big on Setty really, but last night I thought he played good defense and rebounded well.  He had a nice block and steal and was moving his feet really well when his man had the ball in the post.  But last night was about turnovers and he had a couple, like almost everyone else on the team.  BG's high zone killed us, we could not get any easy looks at all and I put that on JC and our guards.  The sloppy, lazy, stupid passes have to stop.

I'm usually a big supporter of the bench bunch but I thought our bench played poorly last night. They looked completely overwhelmed and nobody wanted the ball. Give credit to BG, they played tough.

Not only a bad loss, but it hurts our RPI which was gonna get a boost from Richmond's win over UMass.

I've said this from day 1...we are not 8 competent guys deep at this point in the year and we need to be.  That is why I would have played C-bell more earlier.  His upside offensively and defensively are needed to rest the bigs (or when thery are in foul triuble) no foffense to Setty.  The loss of Johnson really hurt but even more glaring is flat out POOR PG play both offesively and defensively.  One of those guys needs to break thru.  i thought it was Stevie after the OSU game.  Not sure anymore.  And, Bean, well at least he has finally found the net some lately. Neither plays defense well as can be seen by opponents guards getting into the lane at will vs either.

Knowing we still have to play all four of the other legitimate MAC contenders on the road, Ball State beating Buffalo placates a little bit of last night's pain.

Why did we schedule our annual road stinker at BG at home this year?
Maybe because we beat them on the road last year.

This was eerily similar to the BG loss at home a few years ago under JG. As I recall, another crappy inbounds play, or lack thereof, to finish the game.

As the MAC season unfolds, it is becoming apparent to me that this loss is likely going to hurt us badly.  The hierarchy in the West is starting to make itself known.  Unfortunately, we have 6 total games with all 3 of the "good" teams on that half.  Akron, on the other hand, only plays EMU twice, and WMU and Toledo once.

Big advantage Akron.  Would love to see us grab a W on Saturday, but considering we couldn't beat BG's zone in Athens, I give us little chance against EMU's zone in Ypsilanti...

Agree, Oz.  But in this wacky conference, who knows, it may end up working to our advantage somehow.  I realize that's counterintuitive, but crazy things can happen.

And I will not be surprised if the regular season champ has four losses.  UT may find a way to lose less than that, but I doubt it.

Buffalo suffered an even worse home loss to Ball State.  I read the article about the game in the Buffalo newspaper, and saw a comment from a reader about how bad the "Hurley era" is.  Fans are stupid everywhere, I guess.

Beefs went 1 of 13 or 1 of 14 from three.  Game, set, match.  It seems that 3 point percentage determines so many of these outcomes.  If you don't have people who can shoot the three, you will not win a conference title.

Given the attendance, let's generously call it neutral court.

If I were Hunter's alias from the Dispatch of course I would also agree. But I'm not - so I see upside - especially considering the apparent strength of competition from the East and balance of season. The West teams all have to play each other as well.....................
