Ric appeared to suffer a rather nasty lower leg break in the first half against UNC Ashville. Tough loss for the Bobcats. Best wishes to #20 for a speedy and full recovery.

Team depth just took a massive hit.
Been awhile since the program suffered a major injury.
Get well Ric.

Great young man. If you've met him you can't help but be impressed. Best to Ric for a quick recovery.

Big loss with Johnson. Top defender and senior leader.  Big chance for Hall, Wilkins and Setty  to step up.

Really hoping Ric is OK.

Looked bad, worse than an ankle possibly. Hoping it's not an Achilles

I'm pretty worried

Ric is the glue of this team defensively.

Agree that Ric is a great young man. I kept watching the replays of the injury and I had a hard time telling exactly what happened.

I agree that this is a major setback defensively. Ric is our best defensive player. Need him to go against the likes of Toledo, Kent and Akron.

It was his right foot when landing on the floor.

U could see the team's love for Ric after the game. Whole team came up to him one by one. What is medical redshirt rule?

<30% of his teams games. Today was his 14th. If we play 47 games he should be ok.

In all seriousness, it was my first thought as well. Huge fan of that kid. I hope it's not a break.

This isn't the NBA, I count about 35 games including the MAC tournament.

Really bummed about this. Hopefully it is not as bad as it looked.

It was nice to see the team respond strong. Clearly this team is pretty close and is willing to fight for each other.

I haven't seen someone look like they were in so much pain in a quite a while. He was in the locker room for a long time before coming back out on crutches in the middle of the 2nd half. I really hope this didn't end his career. He is a strong part of the team, especially defensively. He's one of my favorites.

Stevie tweeted it was a broken shin. Not sure which bone or if both.

I was only able to watch the second half on the web cast.  I didn't see this injury.  If it's season ending, that's a big blow.  I wondered why Setty was playing so much.  Now I know.  Setty played very well I thought.  He's going to have to step up big time as is Wilkins.

If it's broke, he is done...and given his reaction...I will be shocked if it isn't broke. Sucks big time.

TJ has to figure out how to not be in constant foul trouble if we're going to call on him to be a starter and play 30 mins a game.

There's only one shin bone, the tibia.

I wonder if some consideration is given to pulling DJ Wingfields redshirt if he is healthy and can contribute.

Not sure I've seen this mentioned, but does Harley's redshirt come off now?

Thanks for the clarification doc. In this context I read "shin" as a reference to the lower leg instead of a specific reference to the tibia. If he knew it was the tibia I suspect he would have said it. Either way sad news for Ric and likely months of recovery time.

That's a shame. Hope his recovery goes well. Keep your head up, Ric. You've been a big part of what's been accomplished here the last four years.

Through this injury gives plenty of guys opportunities.  Setty can maybe have some minutes playing a more comfortable wing position.  I think we could maybe have Ndour play some 3 and go big with either Wadley or Antonio playing 4.  That could lead to some match up problems for teams in the MAC.  It is obvious TJ needs to step up and play the type of ball we have all been expecting.  Hopefully the team can rally around Ric and try to make a positive out of the injury.

Groce put out a nice tweet wishing Ricardo well.  Super classy!  Said he loved coaching him, called Ricardo a warrior. First tweet by Groce in nearly 2 months.
