First, I'm a very big N'dour fan, but there is one aspect of his game that has worried me in the past, and it seems I noticed it several times tonight.  Tell me if I'm wrong, but he seems to have "soft hands" on some rebounds.  What I mean by that is many times I see him come down with a rebound and then get it knocked away by opponent.  This happens to all players at one time or another, but it seems to happen more frequently to N'dour.  Perhaps, it's just a matter of the number of times he is in good position for a rebound so it's just a matter of average, but for some reason it seems that this is more a problem for N'dour than some others.  Of course, he usually gets a great number of rebounds and some of these are power rebounds, but does anyone else see this "soft hands" side of him?  Again, I love N'dour.  He's one of my favorite OHIO basketball players of all time, so please don't take this out of context.

I think that's a common tall-skinny guy problem. Zeke Marshall did that a lot when I watched him

First and foremost, a Rocket fan, but Bobcats are my second favorite team in the MAC and I'm a long time reader of this board.

Saying that, I think you might get another side to N'dour's performance last night, by reading The Blade's coverage of the game.

Lastly, not only does Miami s*ck, so does BUGS!

Look noone likes to lose, but you can learn from it and move on. Here's what I learned from last night's loss:

Six guys played over 25 minutes and Ohio only lost to the best team in the conference on the road by six. Adding TJ and Ric in there makes Ohio a lot more dangerous, so here's hoping they both get back on the floor. As much as TJ has struggled to be consistent this year, the tream needs his slashing ability. And they need Ric's mid range jumper and defense. And N'Dour probably won't have another game like that the rest of the year.

I forget who said it earlier in the week, but for some reason I think Ohio matches up with Toledo better than any team in the MAC simply because Ohio can score as much as they do. Especially when Nick, Travis, Stevie and Bean are hitting from outside. They don't get up on you defensively like Akron, Miami, Kent or EMU. So really, I'll give Ohio a slight advantage on a netural court because their defense is better.

In all honesty I'd rather see Toledo in the semis than Akron.

I actually agree with this.  Toledo is a great team, but I think we match up well and I'm not afraid to see them in Cleveland.  On a neutral floor, I think it's pretty much a toss-up game, and I'd like our chances.

No doubt Mo can be absolutely electric, but his game does have some holes. He had several costly turnovers last night and as you mention he had several rebounds taken away from him. Toledo had an obscene number of offensive rebounds and putbacks last night. OBSCENE, I say!

I thought so too. But I've noticed that most of his turnovers come when he made the right choice but just didn't execute. I think Mo sees the floor and knows the game. He keeps his head up and understands when a pass down low is there. He just isn't making a good pass. Good decision: bad execution.

Thanks, guys, for the response.  I suspect that this problem will become less as N'dour gets more experience playing at the D1 level.

If you need someone talking smack to you to play hard then you aren't playing on my team if I'm the coach.   And the fact is that Toledo players talk smack and posture as well.  I don't put a whole lot of stock in that having much effect.  And the fact is that Toledo is an amazingly talented offensive team but their help defense is terrible.

Congrats on the big win last night. I'll be rooting for you guys to run the table the rest of the way and wrap up an at large berth.

we were down by a couple of scores with about a minute to go and the following players were unable to play-

Johnson
Hall
Taylor
NDour
Wilkins

not going to win too many close games with all of those players out of the game.

Those quotes from Ndour appeared in the Blade after the first Ohio-Toledo contest.  That article said that Coach Christian leaned over to Ndour and said, "We have to play these guys again."

The quotes didn't get any play in the Athens media.

I think Ndour spoke foolishly, motivating Weatherspoon, but since Mo is a very wise young man, I'm pretty sure he'll learn from this and not repeat the mistake in the future.

The same day NDour supposedly made those comments, he was also reported as humbly deflecting talk that he was the best player in the league. Arkley's article vs Autello's article after the first Ohio/Toledo matchup could not have painted much more different pictures about the attitude of young man Maurice NDour.

Would love to see a full transcript of our pressers. I assume the clips posted on youtube are only snippets?

I hope that there's a way that Mo can spend the summer competing against the very best bigmanz collegians in the nation.  I think that he has a lot of game which can develop.  He just needs to get used to playing against the best.

Watching the video highlights against Rocket, I realize that it's kind of a get thing when Wilkings cocks it and rise up on this tippy toes.

Maybe we can send him to Philly for an internship..... Seemed to work out pretty well for a former Big Manz
