Pretty much. I wonder how many times has Boals beaten Groce.
Looked it all up. Since 2019-20, the records are as follows. Since that time, the two teams have never met in Cleveland.

2019-20 0-2
20-21 1-1 (home teams win)
21-22 1-1 (road teams win)
22-23 1-1 (home teams win)
23-24 1-0 so far

Can somebody please explain to me why The Whiz was in the game from the seven minute mark to the four minute mark and Clayton was on the bench? WTF. And of course, Akron extends the lead over this time to double-digits.
Not Wiz's fault they extended the lead. We give them wide open threes.
If you haven't yet noticed, on this board, everything is Whiz's fault to some. Showing their basketball knowledge.
Plenty of blame to go around, but The Whiz on the floor consistently hurts you then helps you. It’s 4 against 5 when Ohio has the ball.
Wiz's crime tonight was 1 turnover and 1 missed shot. That clearly cost us the game no doubt. Plus, he was contesting the 3's right? Do you actually WATCH the games? And in Wiz' minimal minutes 1 rebound whereas Clayton was awesome on the boards with a whopping 2.

I'll check back after the next game to see why Wiz cost us another game ... assuming we lose.

They shot 29 free throws. We shot 13.

Yes, we lost.

if anyone thinks our roster is in the same time zone as Akron I think you are delusional. I thought we played hard tonight. I think we play hard in a lot of games. We just don’t have a roster to compete with the likes of Akron or a lot of teams (just look at our record). Combine that with the all the balls we threw away and all the fouls that we make because of our lack of size and athleticism and you can see why we lost tonight. We need to value possessions and play smarter not harder if we want to make it to Cleveland.

The difference in this game was shooting percentages. Look them up.

While they had their fair share of open threes, they also hit 3 ridiculous ones. Bankers or deep late shot clock heaves. Conversely we could not finish in the paint to save our lives. I don't think it was a result of size, most felt like we were well positioned to get a bucket and they just kept rolling off the time. Really frustrating.

Clayton continues to get away from being the effective big man he was to start the year. 3 two pointers attempted vs 6 three pointers and just 2 rebounds. I don't know if Hadaway's increased role has pushed him more out of the paint but I don't like it.

Even though the stats list turnovers as almost dead even, the timing of getting our pockets picked last night when it was still a very close game was really bad. Letting a guy sneak up behind you and knock it away is inexcusable.

A 6-8 guy like Clayton shouldn't bring the ball down low when he's surveying the court. That gives short guys a chance to steal it. He needs to keep it up high.

Same, but I’m beginning to wonder if Clayton just doesn’t want to be that in the paint guy. He (and the numbers) showed he could be with smaller lineups earlier in the year. However and I think you bring up a good point, he might be using Hadaway’s presence as a reason to hang outside more again.

Time to bring back my early season prognosis... has AJC been tested for an allergy to paint?

It kills me that people think Clayton is just free-lancing out there. He's playing exactly where and how he's being told to play.

I think that is more frustrating thing to me. Why do Clayton and Wiz not play together? EVER? Boals isn't pressed on anything because no media really covers him anymore. Why did Clayton play only 25 minutes? What is the lack of rebounding due to? Hadaway with 3, Clayton 2 and Wiz 1! I truly believe that I, a six foot 48 year old could go in and grab 2 rebounds just by standing in the lane and jumping a little if I played 15 minutes. Shooting is shooting--sometimes the ball just doesn't go in. But the lack of rebounding by our bigs and the lack of an inside game at all (why doesn't Hadaway post up?) is frustrating!

Freeman musta went to the Lebron school of flopping. He is very good but looks like a fish on land when making a post move to the hoop. Take out the ridiculous amount of foul calls that were flops and this is game is a toss-up. Our defense looked very good, but another cold night of shooting and FT ratio got us tonight.

Hadaway was stonewalled by Sammy Hunter when he tried to back him down.

I think we will find that threes where the difference in this game. They hit them. We didn’t. I continue to say we leave too many three-point shooters, wide-open while guarding the lane. Stupid defensive philosophy nowadays in my opinion
I could not believe how we kept a 4-foot cushion between our defenders and a shooter beyond the arc.

Wiz is not the problem. He is at least becoming serviceable if he is wrong place, wrong time in a lot of cases

We shoot like shit. Make half those misses and get to a decent number from 3 and we are right back in it. Ill thought out and silly 3 attempts plague this team. Good for shooters not to have a memory but bad for coaches coaching those shooters not to remind them there is a reason they are open.

I was able to watch a lot of the 2nd half. I thought they played hard and kept the game closer than I honestly expected. Akron seems to be the team to beat in the MAC, we obviously are not on that level this season. I was actually pleased that we were able to keep the game in doubt and not become roadkill in the JAR. There's some positives to take from this game, and Friday night feels a little more winnable now.

Just curious. If Boals kicks Whiz off the team, you think we could win out? Because maybe we can take an NIL collective donation to buy Whiz out? Worth. Shot if we really want to win. We just buy out his scholarship and the only person costing us games is gone! You should be Chad Brinker’s RHM in Tennessee

The next 7 games are basically our season.

@Akron
@Kent
Buffalo
Miami
@Ball State
@Toledo
Kent

Very tough stretch. 1-6 is on the table. We really, really need to defend the home court vs. Miami and Kent to stay around.500.
Couldn't forget to highlight the Bobcats went 5-2 during this stretch!

8-2 after the 1-3 start.
