Total bummer the home BG game will be without students. Maybe Towns has finally grown up. But... I'm guessing not and Towns will be talking/gesturing to everyone like he's done since he left. I assume he and Hadaway will be chirping at each other all game. Would have been nice to have a full Ozone and a riled up Convo....

8-1 Bonnies at 8-0 Buffalo on Saturday. Big nuts basketball. If UB basketball culture is back, that needs to be 90% capacity or better.

If Buffalo, by themselves, can’t get to 90% I’d think Bonnie fans will help them get there.

I can only imagine what an 8-1 Marshall vs an 8-0 Ohio on Saturday would be like.

Only if not played at the same time as the Hoosiers defending their perfect 2025 record against that team 70 miles from Athens.

Yeah. Their new Social Media strategy seems to be look at us, we are awesome, don't pay attention to Maine being 0-10, lets move on from the ass whippin' we took in the MACC game and our recent loss to the Bobcats, etc.

Watched the end of UMBC-Buffalo tonight. HORRIBLE offensive foul call to seal the win for the Bulls.

Buffalo is gritty and has some solid wings, but I don’t see them as a contender at the level of Akron. Maybe similar to us at the moment.

Take notes coach, 35th SOS only gets you hate mail.

At least the remaining schedule is 200+.

Their slow start surprised me, but I think my conference time they are going to be one of the top MAC teams.

+1. With all their transfers (I know, a lot of teams can say that!) it seems like they needed more time to gel. But I think they could challenge for the 2nd spot behind Akron.

In related MAC news, Miami finally played a half-decent team and needed OT to get the win.

What impressed me most about the UMass win was that after they were up big in the second half (14?), BC went on a major run to take a 5-6 point lead. My thinking was here we go, BC’s going to blow them out of the gym. Didn’t happen. The Minutemen got it together and came back to win. They seemed to have quite a few pieces and I was impressed with them, including their big. In my opinion, even it was just one game, they may very well challenge Akron for the top spot in the conference.

Many of the good MAC teams (Akron, Miami, Kent even UB) score 80-plus points a game. Not sure UMass can handle that over the course of the MAC season, especially on the road.

But their odds improve greatly on Cleveland's neutral court. Every year there is one MAC team you want to see lose its first MAC Tournament game, ... or you may not beat them at all.

This season, right now, I would say UMass could be that team.

They remind me of a couple past Kent teams; athletic, above the rim and tough. And those teams always seemed to get better/tougher to beat as the season wore on.

I was worried about them from the get go, but after that slow start it seemed maybe they were not as good as I had thought. Now, I'm worried again.

Murray State making 18 threes and putting up close to 120 against Akron sure is something.

Same. UMass now has 3 P5 wins against FSU, BC, and Oregon State.

They’re going to be tough.

Took a look at our schedule recently hoping that the UMass home game would be after students returned. Of course it’s not. I would think the powers that be, in the conference, would want the new school to the league to experience what is one of the best, if not the best, home environments. Especially since not everyone associated with them is pleased about the move anyway.

Let me be the first one on here to call it - after this week's MAC hoops, I'm switching from Akron to UMass as the team to beat in Cleveland in March. I didn't feel this way after UMass started the season losing to Marshall at home in the MAC-SBC Challenge and at home a few weeks later to Green Bay and Doug Gottlieb.

BOLD PREDICTION: The MAC gets two bids for first time in many years -- UMass and Akron, after Akron upsets UMass in the conference championship game. UMass goes through the conference with only two loses (or less).

Big game tonight with Miami visiting BG. Great test for both teams, I'm very interested to see how this one ends up. Is Miami for real? Is BG ready to take the next step?
