If the question was "If Fears stays 4 years, stays out of trouble, works hard and has a good attitude" then it might be close.  But as you state it, no it isn't close.

I almost included implied good behavior/effort in the original question.  Should have.

If he had kept his mind right for 4 years, I think we'd be talking about him as a Bobcat great.

No doubt he does better because look who he has to feed to. Him and Leon as Seniors would be unstoppable. Oh and he would have Tillman that would be unreal.

I think if we don't crap ourselves the last two minutes of the Kentucky game, the 05-06 Bobcats don't completely fall apart.  Fears and Leon win a couple of championships and make a run in the dance.  Oh would'ves and could'ves hind sight is always prettier in green colored glasses.  It was such a shame Leon never really had a good point guard after his Freshman year and it is also a shame that Fears threw it all away with his me 1st attitude.  I wouldn't mind however if next year we open the season hosting Bryant and have a reunion of the 04-05 Bobcats 10th anniversary.   Imagine the video montage beginning with "Ohio, Ohio and Ohio" and the end with the tip in.  That team deserves some recognition.

The other question I'd pose to the masses:  If Fears had played 4 years, would he have been better than Coop?

I think it's a lot closer than we might think...

Fears' length at the PG position was incredible. I think that was my favorite part about his game.

I'm not sure that's true.  If you recall Fears wasn't upset at all about the loss.  Didn't he text Andy Katz after the game and he was giddy about how well he played?  I don't think a victory in that game changes Fears me-first attitude or the rest of the team's acceptance of it.

What hawaiian meant to say was, "if Andy Katz hadn't written the 'It Team' article," Ohio would have finished better in '05-'06.

We win and he brags about showing up Rondo, I don't think people mind as much because we WON the game. As a team we showed up Kentucky. Winning hides blemishes. We didn't have another highly touted game and Fears would've been a superior talent to everyone else on the schedule that season. Since this is a fantasy discussion, I think I can have the hypothesis if we win that game, we don't implode. There would have been a good chance of implosion that off season when Fears considered going pro.

Lets not forget William Thomas. Also, do Jerome Williams and Leon Tillman qualify for this?

You know what's funny?  Considering that he may have been the highest rated recruit we've had I had completely forgotten about him.

I try to remember him specifically to remind myself that there is no guarantee the guys with a "verbal" to Ohio will ever suit up for Ohio. Also, remembering Will Thomas helps me keep my expectations for new recruits grounded. From what I saw of Thomas I thought he would make a great college player. I thought he had a lot of similarities to Jeremy Fears. That obviously didn't work out. No such thing as a sure thing in something like this...

Is there anywhere I could go to watch old game footage from the past decade?

Try posting this inquiry on the Beefalo board.  I'm sure that they'd be happy to help.
