Saw this on Evan Shaw's twitter and it seemed like an interesting discussion. Create a starting 5 and 2 reserves from the last 10 years of Ohio basketball. So the players had to appear on the 04-05 team or later to qualify. And go!

PG: DJ Cooper
SG: Nick Kellogg
SF: Sonny Troutman
PF: Jerome Tillman
C: Leon Williams

Bench:
Maurice Ndour
Tommy Freeman

I debated between Tommy or Sonny in the starting lineup. I favor Sonny for the theft and slashing ability.

PG: DJ Cooper
SG: Armon Bassett
SF: Sonny Troutman
PF: Maurice NDour
C: Leon Williams
Bench
Jeremy Fears
Mychal Green
Jerome Tillman
KVK

I don't expect Armon or Fears to be popular choices because of what they did off the court to end their careers here, but they both could play. It would be a lot of fun to see this group play together. There are a lot of other recent Bobcats that I could argue would make for interesting rotation choices.

KVK doesn't have the stats these other guys do but I always thought he was one of those "off the stat sheet" type contributors. He was very good at setting screens and even better at boxing out. No one cleared the lane like KVK. Plus he made the front page of the USA Today. I don't believe anybody else on my roster can claim that.

edit: i missed the two reserves requirement... ugh, that is tough. I need to give that some thought.

PG: D.J. Cooper (Nuff said)
SG: Armon Bassett (I know it was for a year but wow, what a year!)
SF/Wing: Mychal Green (loved his game, loved his leadership)
PF: Leon Williams (other than Trent he dominated the MAC)
C: Maurice Ndour (greatness is happening but can you even wait for next year?)

Bench
Nick Kellogg (love his moxie)
Walter Offutt (tough as nails)

Honorable Mention (because this was too hard)
Tommy Freeman
Devaughn Washington
Sonny Troutman
Jerome Tillman

PG Cooper
SG Bassett
SF Troutman (all time favorite bobcat)
PF Williams
C Ndour

Bench.
Freeman, Kellogg, Tillman,

Debated putting Tillman over Leon. very similar players but Leon's tip in gives him the nod. Also think Fears should be in there. Was a heck of a player. Just needed a little longer resume. Surprised no one had Bubba. That man had range.

Cooper
Kellogg
Offutt
NDour
Williams

Bench
Tillman
Freeman

Though about replacing NDour with either Bassett or Keely because Maurice doesn't have double letters in his name like everyone else on the team. But ultimately went with Mo because he's not a bad apple like AB and is more versatile than Big Reg. Plus, this gives me three starters with the #5 jersey so that will be fun for the people tracking stats.

PG: Cooper - because why not?
SG: Green - a lot of people forget how good he really was on both ends of the floor
SF: Freeman - need a spot shooter for Cooper to pass to
PF: Tillman - the dunks on Maryland, that's why
C: Williams - best big man Ohio has seen since Trent and Hunter

6th & 7th man
Offutt - dude came through in crunch time again and again
N'Dour - so much talent and upside to not put him on this list, even playing less than 30 games for Ohio so far

Speaking of watching these guys play together, how awesome would it be to watch the TOS 2005 squad of Fears, Green, Troutman, Harbet, and Williams go toe-to-toe with the 2012 JG squad of Cooper, Offutt, Kellogg, Smith and Keely? The '05 squad has more strength but the '12 squad has better shooters.

...and a "money shot".

As for Bubba, he did have range but he had nowhere near the complete game that Tommy did.

Offut would be my 6th man. He and Mychal Green were everything I love in a basketball player. Washington and Tillman were tough match ups and could run the floor.

Hard to believe but I considered Jon Smith. He's that valuable in the paint.

Cliff McGowan and James Bridgewater just missed the cut.

Coleman had better numbers than all the others combined. I know he left early, but other than that he doesn't belong in this group IMO.

Pretty unfair to lump Stephen King and Tunji in with the rest of those guys. Even Zach gets a pass with the bad injury luck he had.

If we're being funny...

G Mike Harris
G Caris Levert
F Evan Bradds
F Maurice Pearson
C Anthony Allen

F Alex Kellogg
G Joe Mitchell

All committed to us at one point. Not one gave us a minute of game action.

I would need to see much MO defense, not just shot blocking, to put him in the Williams/Tillman salient.  But as a 6th man--WOW!

Lets not forget William Thomas. Also, do Jerome Williams and Leon Tillman qualify for this?

You know what's funny?  Considering that he may have been the highest rated recruit we've had I had completely forgotten about him.

Did Harris?  I remember him being mentioned as one of the teams he was considering but I don't remember us ever getting a verbal from him.

Mike was on campus. Sat out in 2008 and then it was revealed that he had a somewhat dangerous heart condition and Groce didn't feel comfortable playing him. I remember there being a bit of debate about it on this site.

I already did the "serious" list with the top talent. Here are my "favorite" players from the last 10 years in a starting lineup.

PG: D.J. Cooper (I am honored to have met him at the MAC Tourney last year in the food court of the mall. Awesome dude. Signed my daughter's program and shook her hand and mine)
SG: Travis Wilkins (I can't say enough about this guy. Has SAVED our season)
SF: Tommy Freeman (I know he's a 2-guard but had to get him in here)
PF: Devaughn Washington (his dunk against G-Town on the breakaway with D.J. is still one of my favorite moments)
C: Leon Williams (I was there for the tip against Buffalo. THING OF BEAUTY!)

Honorable Mention
Mychal Green: What a tough dude
Sonny Troutman: Great high school coach now also
Walter Offutt: Wish we had him for 4 years!
Bubba Walther: Stole him from Kron, what more can I say?

If this is a MAC Tournament or NCAA Tournament game, then you need Armon Bassett.

You have a short memory if you don't remember the most impressive two-week stretch by any player in this program's history. (And no, Dave Jamerson scoring 60-something against a D3 school doesn't compare.)

There's my 9 deep.  Very surprised that nobody had Halbert.  He was one of my favs.

The other question I'd pose to the masses:  If Fears had played 4 years, would he have been better than Coop?

I think it's a lot closer than we might think...

If the question was "If Fears stays 4 years, stays out of trouble, works hard and has a good attitude" then it might be close.  But as you state it, no it isn't close.
