Paranoia on the UBFan board about the MAC:

" we Buffalo fans know we're going to be screwed MAC tournament time at some point in Cleveland favoring the home state Ohio basketball schools in my opinion. UB needs out of the MAC from a UB basketball stand point in the worse way but that for now isn't going to happen at this time. I am not expecting UB to get by one round when they get to Cleveland in my opinion"

Any time you have 1 player that is so dominant as McCrea is there are risks, see what happened in their last game against Ohio. Did Ohio do great things, tournament wise, when Trent was here? Or Hunter? No! It's the point guard position that plays a bigger role in college hoops than the forward or center position.
Ohio exposed Buffalo's weakness in our last game. We dared them to beat us from the outside.

Speaking to that paranoia, Reggie's inability to beat MAC ref's in Cleveland got him fired. Hawkins at WMU is having a great season. I think they win the regular season then fail to win (again) in Cleveland. Does he get fired even with a regular season championship? I know Western fans are sick of no March... I can't see Western doing much next year. They have Tava back but lose Brown and their center with no good 6-8+ big returning...

As for this game, another huge, key game. A win puts us back into #1 in the East. Hopefully we are slowly getting healthy. I like our matchup against Buffalo. McCrea is a beast but beyond that they seemed pretty bleh to me..

If we come out with the same focus we had yesterday, we win. The Buffalo Bulls are branded with the Attack Cat.

Funny....the UB fans feel the same way about the propensity for the MAC to favor Ohio based teams that many here feel about the favoritism of Kent/Akron teams.

Reggie did not fail to beat the MAC refs....he failed to prepare his team for the tourney. He put an emphasis on competing in the MAC rather than building for March.

When the tourney is the focus of fans and the money drives the bus and exposure drives recruiting....very few folks remember who won the regular season.....

That guy is not a UB grad and his random, idiotic posts don't represent our fanbase in any way.

I think people complain about media coverage and writers favoring Kent & Akron...I don't recall anyone saying there was a MAC conspiracy to advance Kent & Akron aided by the refs.

My comments about Reggie's problem with the refs were meant to be sarcastic. My question about how long the leash is at WMU is not sarcastic. They miss the big dance much more and I don't see Hawkins being kept around.

Let's be frank.  There is a MAC conspiracy against Beefs.

The cabal meets quarterly.  I haven't been able to make every meeting but the food has been terrific at the one's that I've been able to get to.

Have any of you others attended?  I wear an OHIO shirt but, of course, everyone wears a mask or a hood for purposes of preserving anonymity.  There are at least two reps from every school in the MAC..

The votes are always unanimous.

And buffalo burgers?

I could see the anti-Buffalo bias in football this season, especially in our game with them.  The ref should've called a TD for Buffalo instead of a safety.

I watched Duke Syracuse on Saturday and now understand why Bobby Hurley can't figure out why his team doesn't get every single call in their favor.

We should be used to that...... since a large part  of the state of Ohio citizenry practices this action every day whilst following their favorite team from whence they never graduated or attended

Only two games have passed since the Bobcats went to Buffalo and swiped a road win. Since then, Ohio has continued to struggle with the physical tolls this season has taken, while Buffalo has handled Akron and Kent State quite easily.

That squandered lead will be fresh in the Bulls' collective mind. The question is whether giving away a large lead like they did in Alumni Arena serves to focus them to finish an opponent off, or if it's in their head that Ohio can and will find a way to come back and get them every freakin' time.

I always remember the 10 point halftime deficit the Bobcats faced in 2005 in a pretty important game against Buffalo. That swelled to 19 points at the 17:12 mark of the second half. Then the Bulls began chucking up ill-advised shots with plenty of time on the shot clock and their star player pretty much disappeared and a ball sits on a rim for eternity before tickling twine and everybody's doing backflips.

When the same thing happened here in 2014: big lead, star player falls silent, chucking bricks... You've got to wonder if there's something in the back of Buffalo's head that foretells painful demise.

No wonder they want to rebrand as New York State.

Weather's fine. Flooded roads have detours posted. Let's all go to Athens. Bring a thermos of caffeinated beverage for the ride home.

Does anyone know if the highlight film from that game is still floating around online somewhere?   I saw that play in person at The Q and will never forget it.  Will go down as probably my favorite Ohio Basketball memory of all time since it was my first experience watching us win a championship of any kind.

As Clodney said - Buffalo Super fan shouldn't ever be considered representative of a UB fan/alum perspective.  The guy is on another planet.

Regardless, UB's got a tough road ahead - OU is playing some of their best ball of the year.  To get the bye, UB must take 1 of the two games @ OU or @ Akron.

Depends on which UB team shows up, I like our chances if we can avoid that 2nd half slump we tend to hit where we go cold for 6-8 minutes.

Luckily for us that option wasn't available, since by rule that play is not reviewable.
