In contrast to the "That was fun" thread, I contest that was not all that much fun.  Hate to be Debbie-Downer, but this style of play is going to burn us big picture if we don't change our MO before we get to Cleveland. 

*Down 18, 11, 18 in the first half of the last 3 home games.  Yes, we pulled out all three, but do that in Cleveland, on a neutral court with the season on the line = playing with fire.

*Maurice with 4 shots total in the first half and the 9 total shots for the game we've grown used to in games we struggle in.  Realize the defense had much to do with this, but that too is playing with fire.

*4 of the 9 players, 3 of those being bench guys not scoring a single point.  I've read on here of people liking our bench play, me = not so much.

*Any TJ Hall sightings???

The easy argument is that we're one game out of the MAC lead and whatever we're doing is working.  My fear is if we can pull this kind of magic out of the hat for potentially three consecutive nights on a neutral floor with the season on the line in Cleveland?   Some of these things must be worked out in short order or I do not like our chances, while I did like today's final outcome.

Totally agree with Jeff.  From the moment you walked into the Convo and saw folks up in the light green seats to the video tribute to Charlie to the ROTC young lady singing the national anthem to the jump ropers at half time to the . . .  you get my point.  I've never seen as many shots rim out as we had in the first half otherwise the game is tight at halftime.  Yes, Maurice didn't see much "action" in the first half but the first play we ran in the second half went right to him down low.  Yesterday was what college basketball is all about - a bunch of kids having fun on the court and a bunch of kids both young and old having fun in the stands.

There is no question this team is capable of crapping the bed. The first 25 minutes were so awful, it was depressing.

But then the next 15 minutes were awesome, and it was a blast...and I was reminded this team can absolutely win the conference.

As others have said, this team is fun. And it is exciting to think that thinks could really start clicking on a more consistent basis and the team could really turn a corner and do something special.

Wasting a post here explaining for those of you who didn't "get it" initially--- I was not referring to whether I had "fun" Saturday.  My son was there with his friends, my father came, the popcorn was hot/fresh, comeback victories add to the dramatic affect, dinner great after game, video tributes wonderful, crowd electric---all the "fun" stuff was there and a had a wonderful afternoon.

Regarding the progress of our team,  I do not enjoy watching us play with fire against inferior opponents repeatedly.  I do not enjoy watching us not attack the 2-3 zone effectively and ignore the post for half the game, until our backs are up against the wall and we have to resort to what we should've been doing all game long.  And while I'm thrilled for Travis, I'm not sure we need to rely on a bench player having a career high to bail us out of electric home game after a tough road loss.  Guess I didn't enjoy "the game on the floor" as much as I anticipated as I just expected us to take care of business, against an inferior opponent, on our home floor without the need to make it dramatic.  I'm not sure the Cardiac Cats are what you want going to Cleveland and try to pull these tricks three consecutive nights in hopes of continuing their season.  In fact, I think it's a recipe for disaster if we fall in love with this script.  Guess I was just kind of anticipating we would just take care of business in a workmanlike fashion vs. sleeping walking through the first 2/3rds of the game.    Nice that we have this confidence should we need it periodically, just don't want to get into the mindset this is how we roll on a regular basis. Just no need to be down 18 to this Miami team at home.

That game was always going to be a battle. It's not going to be easy to "take care of business" when you're playing a team who won five straight and who is your biggest rival. If there is one thing I have learned over the years its that 90% of MAC games are going to be a dogfight, Any team can beat anybody on any given night. nothing is for certain.

Not sure how someone with shoes on that bright could disappear, but he kinda did.  He's been all over the board the last few weeks.  0/12 in the Eastern game, then 9 big points against Central in the comeback.  4/6 from the field and 12 points against Western to 0 points on 0/2 from the floor against Miami.  He's a real wildcard.  I feel like we know what we're going to get on a regular basis from most of the starters, but with TJ it's anyone's guess.  He might have solid minutes and knock down some big shots and provide some offense, or just as likely be mired in foul trouble and score 4 points.  We need him to play to his ability, and I'm not sure we get that all too often.  With his size and athletic ability, he can be a problem for people to match up with, and we need that down the stretch.

My observation from pretty darn close is that Mo is not just sore - but clearly constricted in motion ability. He is obviously not able to get up quite as high as before (therefore so many hooks over him recently). Whatever the injury scenario likely does not qualify him for limo rides home, to eat, etc. after games.

AGREED!!!  This team is literally limping into the MAC Tournament, where it might unfortunately be a very short stay.  There's only so much JC can do when 4-5 of his best players are either out or really hurt.  This is reminiscent of the 2012 football team's injury woes.  But the basketball team's been relatively lucky the last few years with a lack of bad injuries, so I guess this has been the year to pay the Piper.

If a guys hurt, he's hurt and only he knows how much he's hurting.  Not for anyone to judge that aspect of the game.  But just as  I say that, I notice that Maurice is still flying all over the court.  Other than maybe seeing he's not jumping quite as high after it being mentioned on here, from the blind eye he looks like the same dude.  The only ailment he appears to have from the blind eye is a towards getting in the paint.  It's obvious he prefers to face the basket and play the wing.  Maybe he doesn't prefer the paint, maybe he's sick of working hard inside and not getting the ball consistently (while the rest of his teammates pass it around the perimeter until someone shoots another 20 footer).  What  I do know, is what i've been saying ALL season long--if we don't work the offense through paint/Maurice and get him at least 15+ shots a game it's over.  It may still be over, but watching Maurice play hot potato around the perimeter yesterday just hits my last nerve. 

It's the MAC, it's Kent State who doesn't have huge bruisers inside, he should not have 4 points in 23 minutes against this marginal MAC squad.  Once again, maybe he's faking it so well we can't even see how much he's hurting, but to me it appeared poor strategy more than him not being physically able to catch the ball in the paint insead of on the perimeter.  Time is running out and I'm thinking we ain't going to figure this out in time.

I know you participated and continue to participate in athletics but my experience is that post game therapy at OHIO,  in a lot of cases and conditions,  consists largely of saran wrap and an ice bag holding it in place. The real meat of assessment and therapy comes the next morning and on a daily or multiple daily schedule. Most modalities used in back therapy require the initial use of ice immediately post activity and then use of the modality once the inflammatory response is quelled.

I think you are a little out of bounds here. From the sounds of it Ndour could not really bend over or get low to dribble, dig or gather and explode with his back situation. Best you are going to do post game is lots of ice and hopefully get some rest.

This is actually not true.  Since Ruck, Andrew is a CPA, he is a doctor, qualified to practice medicine in all circumstances.
