Everyone on all these podcasts and interviews and etc. thinks they have the best interest of the young athlete in mind.

You know this and what they are saying because you actually took the time to listen to what they are saying or you just threw that out there as a broad statement?

For the record I have consistently been way in favor of them being able to go straight out of HS and do not feel they are an oppressed class that needs to have a safety net.

I'm directing that towards the coaches and Van Gundys of the world, not Bobcatattackers.  A lot of those guys talk big and then turn around and do things that make it very hard on young kids, like "suggesting" they transfer (pulling scholarships), or refusing to release kids so they can transfer somewhere, and etc.

My own opinions are flawed.  I flip flop around on this stuff.  for example I've probably change my mind 3-4 times on whether athletes should get some sort of additional stipend (salary) above their full ride.

Kind of got that because that is not the subject Van Gundy or Hewitt were addressing. Giamoco's statement you threw out there also had nothing to do with transfers.

They were specifically talking about the concept of one and dones. Nothing to do with transfers. I am not sure off the top of my head that Van Gundy ever had the opportunity to pull a scholly or release a kid. Did he ever coach college ball? Not that he does not have an opinion but I have never heard him talk about anything except how the one and done affects college. Probably why he was so far off base with an opinion that they should not berequired to take a normal track of classes and have a "pro track" established for those athletes.....which brought allsorts of reprecussions ...not only in the media at large but within Paul Hewitt's team who he made listen to and comment on Van Gundy's Idea. The most vocal of Hewitt's guys was a Master's level student he has playing for him who had a pretty harsh response. (synopsis provided in hopes that others may actually click on and listen with interest in order to have an informed opinion prior to making a comment)
