Just got home from the Q
IMO the difference in the game was during the first half when OHIO was on the verge of blowing to a mid teen lead, and a baseline travel and three very lazy and stolen passes leading to lay-ups or foul shots is what cost the victory.  Score on 2 of those chances and Akron may have been down 15 and who knows how they react--a couple of threes and they are still down 9.  Instead the score is back down to up only 4..How can experienced players throw lazy perimeter passes?

Betancourt was the player of the game--several late drives and picked the pocket of anyone he was near.

I admired TJ's game tonight, fighting to get to the block and coming up with huge stick backs.  The TJ foul on his rebound was huge, as had it not been called the Bobcats were off to the races.  Let's hope future teams communicate better on inbounds plays and ALWAYS remind each other before setting up the play as to  how much time remains on the shot clock.

Next season OHIO's point guard tandem will please us all--Bean played very solid again tonight.  Get healthy Stevie.

Agreed as to the 1st half comments, although the flip side of that argument is that if Treadwell had made some free throws in the 1st half, the game would've been tied at the half.

Tonight is the result of home losses to Akron, BG, WMU, Kant, Beefs forcing our 3rd game vs. their 1st. Life has consequences.

Team quit with about 6 minutes left.  Mo was awful when he came back in the game.  Just awful to waste 34 good minutes with a no show the last six.

Didn't you quit on this game with 4 minutes left?

One thing I think most on any bobcatattack board agrees: the MAC is inconsequential and small time and happy with the niche they're in.  So, any school that remains in this conference really must feel the same way.  I'd love to see the schools that have had enough of this league plus a few others form a league which has some real value in mid major country!

On a more joyful note: I will miss nick kellogg more than ANY other guard this school has had in the last decade or two.

Inconsequential, small time, and happy? - No, but maybe "OK w/it" at the "office".

I will miss Nick a lot. Scoring great. Per guard - well, Assists Matter - A LOT! So.................(you know who I am talking about)

I woke up still bitter about the unbalanced schedule that put us as the 5 seed and Akron as the 4.  We ran out of gas down the stretch.

I know I know, we control our own destiny, had our chances...blah blah blah.  I still think it would've been different if we had been resting all week instead of grinding out wins.

Full disclosure - I have always been a well documented hater of unbalanced schedules.

No complaints from me as far as our play, actually.  I thought our guys played relatively well, we just got beat.  We shot the ball well, outrebounded Akron, and the turnover number was not as horrible as it has been at several points this year.  The timing of the turns were what killed us.  As well as Akron was scoring, when we gave away possessions late, they pulled ahead, end of story.  I'm not unhappy about the way this season unfolded, in general.  I think given the losses from last year's senior class, coupled with the injury woes, winning 23 games is one hell of an accomplishment.  People can bark all they want about Christian, it's their opinions, but I think complaining about the coaching in a 23 win season after losing 4 big seniors and having critical players with major injuries this year is beyond idiotic.  That's my opinion.  I hate Akron as much as the next Bobcat fan, but they played a pretty good game last night.  My only real beef with last night was the non-interference call when Campbell's shot was rattled out because of a shaking basket.  Would the outcome have changed, who knows?  What if Nick made that wide open 3 from the corner coming out of the timeout?  There's a lot of woulda/coulda/shoulda's, but as a whole it's hard to complain with the way we played.

Side note, classic Buffalo.  Ousted in the quarters after winning the East.  McCrea looked to have had a bad night according to the stat sheet.  I'm hoping now for a Western/Toledo final.  Those two have been the best in the MAC pretty much all year, time to settle that score.

And who in their right mind could have foreseen the bench trio of Forsythe/Betancourt/McAdams combing to go 9/10 from the floor with 25 total points?

Ohio has faced Akron in Cleveland 4 of the last 5 years and is 2-2 in those matchups. The 2012 game is the only game where Akron outscored Ohio in the first half (29-28) and is the only game where Ohio outscored Akron in the 2nd half (36-34).

In the other 3 games Ohio had the lead at halftime by a combined score of 103-93, but was outscored by Akron in the 2nd half by a combined score of 88-123. That's -15 in the 2nd half for Ohio and +30 for Akron. We need to do a better job of putting them away.

You know me, I am old school and believe in the adage about Fair Play that used to appear on a lot of scoreboard clocks.  So, put me in the camp that says unbalanced schedules are patently NOT fair.  And, put me in the camp that hates this format.  Lace em up and have everybody start equal.    If you are good and win the league, congrats.  If you are that good you get to the NCAA tourney anyway.  A single bye is bad enough.  This double bye stuff is really stupid.

I disagree with this.  We are clearly a leader in the MAC from an attendance and fan standpoint.  I would argue we are far and away the best.  We are also very consistent on the field/court....but in order to justify something like this, we need to be dominant.

I agree that the MAC's TV coverage for the tourney is second-rate.  At least when it was on STO/FSN everyone on satellite or cable in Ohio had access to it.  It's pretty sad when someone in Ohio has to turn to a European pirate website to get a decent feed of a conference tournament game played in Ohio.

The last five or so minutes is attributable to it being our sixth game in four days.  Unbalanced schedules contributed some to our seeding, but the injuries and blown leads were the real culprits.

I know there's probably some b-ball left to play, but I'm really impressed with the way this team performed this season.  Losing four starters in one season to graduation, plus another to injury, would shake most teams to the core.  But I think this team outperformed any reasonable expectations we had going in.

Some of the underclassmen got some valuable playing time this year.  That should bode well for next year.

I guess it depends where you live.  I don't miss going to a home game and catch all the away games on TWC, if they are scheduled.  I have enjoyed the broadcasts think they are pretty good.

Other than an awful method of streaming games and the inability to watch the MAC Tournament on TV in Ohio (which are big deals), what specifically do you mean by the MAC being inconsequential?

TWC covers a good bit of Ohio, not sure why you say you can't watch it in Ohio.

I gathered from this thread that the games were difficult to watch on TV in Ohio.

Only if you don't have TWC. I do have it, and have had no problem viewing the games when televised.

I would probably watch these games but since my Directv has no package I will settle for BIG, BIg12, ACC and all the others I can surf around and find. Done with the MAC. Not worth my time and effort.
