This game turned on Treadwell lack of basket interference call.

Team quit with about 6 minutes left.  Mo was awful when he came back in the game.  Just awful to waste 34 good minutes with a no show the last six.

Quit is a pretty strong word.  Akron had a ridiculous amount of bounces (and calls) go their way.

Regardless of what you do, it's nearly impossible to combat a team shooting 24 more FT's.

Just from the eye test, we looked to have run out gas near that point (6 min).

Mo went out and Campbell was getting killed inside. Ultimately that's what did us in.

For a team that is kind of middle of the road offensively, you can't have your second leading scorer strapped with foul trouble for the entire game. Even with a super human performance from Nick, we just didn't have anyone else on the floor who could put the ball in the basket.

Ah yes, the Jim Christian era at OU.

Tonight is the result of home losses to Akron, BG, WMU, Kant, Beefs forcing our 3rd game vs. their 1st. Life has consequences.

Crap end to a crap season. On to baseball?

Apparently, Dambrot has a knack for turning the officials into his lapdogs.

Mo just got caught up in the moment on that full court ball handling turnover but dang...that was what turned it in my mind. If he calms it down and pulls it out we're down 3 with the ball. Work it around and who knows. Yeah Mo had a bad game but Travis gave us nothing either. Looked off. I thought Bean and Nick were warriors and Tony played pretty great for a frosh. Man is he going to own the MAC without McCrea, Whittington and Treadwell next year. Think how far we came. Stevie limited, T.J. limited, Travis limited, Mo limited and we still pushed it. We still have more basketball to play this season, how many teams can say that?

Sometimes you just lose.  It amazes me how some of you turn on college kids like they were trying to lose.  Nobody quit.  A more physical team imposed themselves on the boards.  They created situations where they got to the foul line. There were several careless TOs down the stretch.  JC didn't lose the ball or miss 4 footers and Dambrot didn't steal the ball off the OU dribble.  Yes, the missed goal tend hurt. Why not be proud of the effort the Cats made this week and celebrate the seniors who gave you years of enjoyment? Hopefully, with some rest, they will recuperate and go on to provide us with some more fun this season.

Really.  We played okay.  Between injuries (a lot) and so many games in so few days plus 'kron causing certain match-up problems for us (Treadwell), we just didn't have it tonigh.

The hoops team pas pretty much played well all year--good solid team ball with effort.

I'm surprised that a few minutes of disappointment would make so many of you rip so hard on hoops while almost everyone gave football a free pass and that was a team that was sour and got creamed at basically every important point.

I completely agree. This team was up against a lot of injury obstacles coming down the stretch of the MAC season, which put them at a seeding disadvantage in the tournament. I saw a team that gave it their all today. Yes, they made some mistakes, but they didn't pack it in. This team wants to win, and I have no doubt, no matter what post season tournament you put them in, they will continue to compete. That's all I can ask of the players as a fan.

Just got back. Don't normally like to pin a loss on the zebras, but just look at the free throw disparity. Not sure we win either way, but it's hard to lose like that. Anyone saying this team quit or that it was a lousy season is delusional. A Bobcat team has not done more with less for a lot of years. I'm bitter at the result tonight, but proud of the team.

Instead of JC's 23-11, Tim O'Shea would have gone 11-23 with this group. He would have had Wadley starting instead of Tony and burned Harley's redshirt when Ric went down. I still wish we weren't 1-5 against Kron under JC but wait till next year. Mo will be a POY candidate and Bean is outstanding. Stevie healthy, Treg more confident and darnit, Tony averaging at least 12 and 7 will make it a great year. I think Tariq will shine and Wiggington will start by end of year, mark it.

"no show"?  5 for 6 FG (1 for 1 from 3), 5 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block.  Yes, 4 turnovers but hardly a "no show."

Crap season? Doubt the players or JC would agree with such an uniformed statement.

Maybe you missed most of the year. Roughly 1/3 the guys on the team had injuries with Ric, TJ, Mo, Stevie amongst them. 23 wins is a major accomplishment given what we had to deal with.

+1

IMO, some here aren't true fans. They're fair weather fans. When things go well they're on board. With some adversity (injuries) they take cheap shots at 18 - 22 year olds.

Looking back, you could see the wheels starting to fall off early in the second half. All of a sudden, we couldn't get stops anymore. Then, we couldn't get rebounds. Then, we were committing fouls because we didn't have the legs on defense. Then, we were making mental mistakes. It was almost like a checklist. When Akron finally took the lead, we were running on fumes. They never stopped trying or fighting, but sometimes there's just not enough light left in the day.

Just like our win against Miami, the final score doesn't indicate how competitive the game was. And it was quite competitive. I really hope people don't say we choked or gave up or gave the game away, because that's not what I saw. Akron played really well and had the right gameplan. That's how you go after a tired team. They got it inside, got fouls, and just whittled us down to nothing.

It was a better season than I anticipated and much better than I feared after all the injuries. Lots of questions about what this squad will look like next year, though. Should be interesting.

Some folks are pretty funny.....I found that to be a pretty entertaining game. Tough game, both teams kept coming at each other, high energy, big shot after big shot. Unfortunately we were on the losing end and ran out of steam physically and mentally the last five minutes. After all the injuries, I really didn't expect this much from this group. I'm very excited for what this time has the potential to become next year. I'm disappointed that Kellogg/Smith/Hall/Wilkins/Johnson won't get a chance to dance, but will look forward to whatever tourney we end up in. With a little rest and recovery time, maybe they can make a nice run. Good luck to this team that all year has shown no quit, not sure why anyone who's watched them all year would think this squad has an ounce of quit in it. Disappointing to hear some think they did.

I agree too.  Just got back from the game.  I said it last night and I'll say it again-I couldn't be more proud of this team!   Akron was supposed to win this game-they're healthier (and hence more talented tonight) and were rested.  They're tournament-tested and very experienced in these tourney games.  We're minus Rico, Stevie's playing on a broken leg and TJ has no knees.  And we're winning most of this game?  Crazy!!

One thing some of us noticed-Ohio's in need of a player who just demands the ball in crunch time.  Nick seemed like the only player in the last couple of minutes tonight who wasn't hesitant with the ball.  We've been spoiled the last several years with such players, DJ, Walt and others just to name a few.  Anyway, who will be that player for Ohio next year?

Anyway, great season by the team!

P.S.  I hate Akron- go WMU!

As usual at the end of the year the naysayers come to the top, just like cream. What do most people do with that sour tasting cream. They get rid of it. The same to naysayers.

THANKS TO JOHN, TRAVIS, TJ, RICK AND NICK FOR WHAT THEY CONTRIBUTED TO OUR FINE UNIVERSITY. A GOOD SEASON WITH DIFFICULT INJURIES. GREAT PERSONNEL COMING. I SEE A GREAT SEASON NEXT YEAR.

Just got home from the Q
IMO the difference in the game was during the first half when OHIO was on the verge of blowing to a mid teen lead, and a baseline travel and three very lazy and stolen passes leading to lay-ups or foul shots is what cost the victory.  Score on 2 of those chances and Akron may have been down 15 and who knows how they react--a couple of threes and they are still down 9.  Instead the score is back down to up only 4..How can experienced players throw lazy perimeter passes?

Betancourt was the player of the game--several late drives and picked the pocket of anyone he was near.

I admired TJ's game tonight, fighting to get to the block and coming up with huge stick backs.  The TJ foul on his rebound was huge, as had it not been called the Bobcats were off to the races.  Let's hope future teams communicate better on inbounds plays and ALWAYS remind each other before setting up the play as to  how much time remains on the shot clock.

Next season OHIO's point guard tandem will please us all--Bean played very solid again tonight.  Get healthy Stevie.
