The last scholarship is going to a PG.  JC wants someone learning the system next year who can then step in the following year.  You never want to enter a season without a PG with some experience in your system leading your squad

I agree with you on wanting a PG with college experience on the team, but it didn't really hurts us in 04-05 (Fears) and 09-10 (Cooper). In 11-12 we also had a freshman PG coming off the bench (Taylor). Maybe freshman PGs are a good thing for OHIO.

Last night's performance reinforced my belief that Bean should be a 2 next year. His 3 point shooting has been the best aspect of his game this year. His defense needs work obviously, but if he can improve his ability to drive and finish as Walt did so well in years past and as Nick has done this year, he could be solid at the 2 and give JC some big time flexibility in line ups.

Mo can play 3, 4, or 5.
Setty can play 3, 4, or 5.
Campbell can play 4 or 5.
Owens can play 4 or 5.
Stevie at the point.
Bean at 1 or 2.
Wingfield at 2 or 3.
Wiggington at 3 or 4.

There are a lot of options there. But we have to get a REALLY good PG with that last scholly.

I think you should add in Nehemious Morillo-Lajara. I think he'll make an impact right away as well

And Crute.  Now you have 3 2 guards without Bean.  Bean gives JC that flexibility if needed, but otherwise it is highly unlikely.  And size can be a big factor  when you look at the other 2 guards.

Exactly my concern with that idea, Bean would be a severely undersized 2.  I wouldn't be as concerned about that on the offensive end, but imagine him trying to guard opposing shooting guards giving up several inches.  I don't think that would work all that well.

Next year I think I'd rather redshirt Crute as a hybrid SG/SF and be able to put Bean on the court with Stevie at the same time (with a JUCO PG as backup) than redshirt a true freshman PG. Bean has just impressed me lately with some clutch, momentum-swinging 3s. You put that on the floor with Stevie's "awwwww helllll nawwwwww" attitude, and it's gonna be fun to watch.

Treadwell and Harney were both academically ineligible their first year.  If they graduate in 4 years then they can play one more year.  I guess this makes sense academically and is an incentive to work hard on grades.

Would any of our friends from Akron have any insight into if either of them are actually on track to make this happen?

I foresee a fantastic reality show in which Keith Dambrot has to teach summer school.

"Keith Your Grades Up"

Or "Give a Dambrot"

In an article in today's PD, Dambrot said Treadwell will graduate on time.  Nothing was said about Harney.

Priority for two guard next year is shooting ability (the long ball) and defense (which probably means some height).
