Since I think we'll end up in one of these tournaments, I thought I'd start a thread.  Obviously these tournaments won't officially release brackets until after the selection shows tomorrow.  However, some of the teams that have already accepted bids to the CIT put out announcements over the last few days.  Both tournaments seem to have a deal with CBS Sports to broadcast some of the games.

Too bad for no NIT as there were a couple intriguing match ups for me, including WVU and Illinois.  CIT/CBI--just the opposite.  But at this juncture, I guess you take what you can get.

Interesting. Wonder why this guy has Ohio on the NIT bubble but others do not.

I would assume that we won't accept an CBI or CIT bid until our administration is certain the NIT is not in the cards. Not sure which we prefer between CBI and CIT.

I'd prefer we just sit it out if we don't get an NIT bid. These other tourney's don't prove anything other than "if I can't play in your sandbox, I'll make my own". Let the kids go to school and be students for awhile. They've already played over 30 games. So the coach can say he "guided" his team to the post season? Even the though the NIT is a joke, at least it has tradition and a chance to play in New York at Madison Square Garden on ESPN. This is a further example of not knowing when enough is enough.

If the players want to keep playing, who is someone outside the program to object? Pretty simple. If you're not interested, don't follow it.

I agree with Steve! How can a true Bobcat fan not want to see another game or two? People can be way too snobish about these matters.  If the team earned a post season invitation, they should accept it. If some of you want to pack it in and watch baseball, then go ahead, but don't put down other events that work to extend careers and seasons! How in the heck is the NIT "a joke?' We have underclassmem who would love to play! The arrogence just kills me!!!

Let the players play. I'd rather get a CBI or CIT title than get bounced out of the first round of the NIT with the same players who were a foul shot away from the elite 8 a year before

Always accept these. Gives players more team practices and time to develop, as well. Plus, I bet guys like Setty, Campbell, and Wadley will see solid/increased playing time in the games, right?

DJ Cooper tweeted some words of wisdom after their loss to Akron-

"Great season by the Bobcats.. Seniors take advantage of the Post season tourney no matter what it is. Last few games as a college player"

I would love this team to play in the NIT.  Some intriguing match-ups if someone has a sense of humor.  No opinion on other options.

You know how you feel when OSU football fans are all bitchy about playing in a BCS bowl but not the championship and you want to slap them?  That's how 200 D1 basketball programs feel when they see us saying "meh" to these postseason tournaments.

I've always wanted to see the Bobcats go far in one of these tourneys, I think it would be exciting to see, but we can't seem to get past the 2nd round.

If there was a team built for winning a second round road game it would be this squad.  They must play better after having slept in a hotel room the night before a game LOL.

I say the NIT is a joke because they don't pick the teams on merit, but on potential gate receipts. It does have tradition and exposure, so it's worth playing. In my opinion, anything more than that is a watered down product with little return on the effort. We've already played 32 games and finished 5th in the MAC. Then we had another chance to prove ourselves in the MAC tourney and lost. Between the NCAA and NIT, 100 teams are selected to play. What exactly will we accomplish by playing these games? The kids are tired after a long season. I think they have school to attend and thinking a few more games will develop anyone beyond what they already are is unrealistic. The kids know that this is the also ran gang and all it does is allow Jim Christian to say he played in the "post season". Do you think that holds any clout with anyone to say we played in the CIT? Not to mention the risk of injury after a long season. They will play if asked, but I would love to see them take the high road and decline.

No, you're still living in the past. When the NCAA bought the NIT, they started selecting based on merit. Otherwise, why would you have the auto bids?

Looks like 21 schools have accepted CIT bids so far, per the tourney's Wikiepdai entry (and it looks like they all cite releases from athletic departments)

Another chance for them to embarrass themselves in the first round of a post season. IPFW been playing pretty well lately. ....they're not Northwestern but......

And giacomo, I am not even gonna reply to your archaic, dated, uninformed opinion as you more than have a right to it. Just good to see you continue to confirm an ever growing reputation with each post.

At first, I thought Colorado State.

Home game. In state matchup.  I like it.
