BG hasn't won a MAC championship since 1968. 1968?! At this point they should just give up because that is beyond embarrassing. who does that?
seriously though.. BG's commitment to mediocrity is astounding. How do you take $10m and downgrade your facilities? And how do you donate $10m to a bball program and not insist a winning coach be hired immediately?
Ummm, first off you do realize it's been since 1968 since we won a MAC championship in football don't you? So we "do that" also. Should we just "give up" in football? Second, BG doesn't have that $10 million right now. They will start receiving payments of it when Bill Frack dies and it won't come in a lump sum, it will be disbursed over a period of time. Third, Louis Orr was saved partly in their hiring of a new AD. And if you think they were happy about that I suggest you check out their board. Fourth, I think the Stroh Center is very nice and even nicer than the Convo in many ways. Is it smaller? Yes, no doubt. But it's still a nice arena. You could also make the argument ours is too big. We lead the MAC in attendance and play in an arena two-thirds empty on most nights. Further, after our game last week I overheard several of our players talking about things they wish we had that they do before they got on the bus.
Do I think we have a better campus and school? Yes. But I sometimes think we get a little arrogant with our mindset and beliefs about who we are, because trust me, for every person who wonders why someone went to school X, Y or Z over Ohio, there are just as many people wondering why someone went to Ohio instead of X, Y or Z. I can't tell you how many time I have had to defend OU for not bring a shit school and just for partying, or an Appalachian hilljack school to those unfamiliar with OU. I love Ohio no matter what others think. But to each his own.
