Mercer, an early season Ohio victim, is within 3 of Duke with about 9 minutes to go.  It's been a very back-and-forth game.

And-1 opportunity for Mercer to tie at the under 8 minute timeout.  If Quinn Cook wasn't on fire for Duke they'd be in deep trouble.

Capel and Scheyer on the bench to feel it as well.

if 83% of brackets busted on the t OSU game I suppose the only ones left after this are in Macon GA with some guy who has dual degrees form MErcer and Dayton and happens to be from Pittsburgh with a cousin in North Dakota and a brother than graduated harvard.

Of interest, Mercer won the CIT in 2012.

And we beat Mercer by 9, so that means would could've beaten Duke by 16.  Right?

And they weren't shamed into dropping out of D1 hoops?

Of interest, that team is fairly intact from that run. Keeping four year program guys and reloading is a good way to get to this level...even better if you can sustain it.

Per ESPN:

"Just 3.3 percent out of the 11 million-plus brackets submitted to ESPN's Tournament Challenge correctly picked Mercer to upset Duke."

There is a guy in my office pool that is 18 for 18.  He actually has Mercer in the Sweet 16.

I hope we get to hear the replay of Coach K trashing all the mid-major conferences on SC tonight.  I think  an auto-tune overdub would be appropriate.  What were those words again "Get real" or something like that?

Not that I think his point is totally off but some things you just don't say out loud when the enemy is listening.

And did I hear correctly that they won at least one game in the NIT in the past couple years, maybe at Tennessee?

Stepping stones . . . . . . . .

First St. Louis.  Then Mercer.  Now all I need are the Heels to go down and all three fan bases here will be shut down.  Go Friars!!

Another victim of THE Arrogant Crowd goes bust. OSU with their THE BS and now Coach K with his the whole ACC conference has an entitlement right to the Dance before any Mercer-type schmuck conference team. Fitting.

Actually Coach K spoke highly of Mercer. And he was classy enough to go into the Mercer locker room after the game. Rather than enjoying a great back and forth game I don't really get some of the posts that seem to be full of anger, animosity or whatever ....

where are those that complained about Mercer being one of Ohio's best wins as being proof of our mediocrity?

meanwhile UMass, in their first tournament in 15 years in spite of being in a "better" conference than the MAC or ASun, is down 20pts with under 4 minutes to play to an 11 seed.

I love March.

With this thread, there are three statements that can really stir the message board pot:

  • Mercer is a better team than Duke
  • The CIT doesn't do anything for the future of a team
  • Ohio played a weak OOC schedule

We should leave the MAC and join the Atlantic Sun.

They are starting up I-AA scholarship football so they are moving over to the Southern Conference, replacing Davidson. So, Hunter can match wits with Da Bears.
