Weather does not appear to be a factor in limiting travel before and after game.  Might be a little snow today but there will be more after midnight and tomorrow morning, maybe a couple of inches, according to the Scalia Lab and WSAZ.

Mercer's scores are impressive so far this season.  A close three point loss at Texas, an OT victory vs. Seton Hall, and a blowout win over a decent Yale team.  They did lose by 13 at Evansville, but that is something that could happen to anyone.

Ohio better be ready for this team.

According to Twitter, it appears Treg will not play tonight due to a case of strep throat.

I saw that also, but I wonder if he will dress just in case he HAS to come in if we get into foul trouble.

Count me in the worried department. I believe this will go down to the final minute.

Just would not feel right if you did not have those highly polished worry beads rolling between your fingers LOL

Mercer has played a tough schedule except for one non Div. I opponent.

Their stat line is positively scary across the board.  Very strong in every category.

I would say one key is to contain their outstanding senior PG, Langston Hall.  We have had some trouble up to this point with allowing opposing guards to penetrate and draw fouls.  Hall is very good at that, he's 6-4, and he's a 90% FT shooter.

Mercer is outrebounding their foes by an average of 10.  Since that's an area where the Bobcats have some trouble, we have to work very hard to keep them from eating us alive with offensive rebounds and stick backs.

Their good big man, Coursey, is the A-Sun preseason defensive player of the year.  We will see how he does defending Ndour.

I have a feeling that if we haven't figured out how to defend without getting enormous foul numbers that we will lose this game.  We'll need to play better than we did in Boston and the first quarter of the 'Burg game if we want to win.  Having a full Ozone that is rowdy because break is around the corner would be a big boost.

GO CATS!

Couldn't find a line on the game.  Odd.  Anybody else able to find it?

No.  That is odd.  Usually Atlantic Sun teams get lines.

Have you been in Athens? It's pretty much Thanksgiving break already. Most professors cancel classes for the week and students are long gone. Expect a very light O Zone tonight.

I really don't understand the scheduling.... This game is essentially on break. Pretty much ALL of our remaining OOC home games are while students are on break.

Love or hate the O Zone, there is no denying the home-court atmosphere isn't 100% when they aren't there.

ALL the remaining OOC games are during break. But hey, students got to see Heidelberg!

Would you say that it sucks not to have the O-Zone there?

Are we really having the scheduling discussion again?  They were going to play it on Sunday but they heard that Cleveland was playing Pittsburgh

I'll continue to discuss scheduling as long as we schedule the majority of our OOC games while students are on holiday breaks. It makes no sense to me.

The Convo looks empty tonight. Can't blame people considering Thanksgiving holiday.

As long as the MAC is playing November football on the weekdays I think we should be shooting for Saturday games.

Also, if you look at our home schedule it is showing a Dec 13th home game vs Alabama A&M. I swear that wasn't there before.

Optimist-  For many years virtually all OOC games were while students were on break.

You gotta start somewhere and get teams willing to come to Ohio.  I don't like the timing any better than you, in truth, but in terms of who we are playing at home I think this year is one of the better OOC schedules--except for when some of the games are scheduled.  A trade off for last Saturday's game and tonight's game would have been perfect.

I would like to think that the athletic department has a game plan for improving the OOC schedule especially with the change to semesters when the students will be here for more home games than when school was out from this time of the year until after the New Year.

Alabama A&M has been on the schedule for weeks (although not listed on this sites schedule).  AA&M seems to be playing several MAC schools this pre-season.

One of the biggest perks I saw in moving from quarters to semesters was more quality home games for hoops. At this rate, we should have just stayed on quarters. I don't buy that the only times we can get anyone to come play here is on Thanksgiving weekend.

We had great energy.  Couldn't shoot at the beginning but we were able to withstand the drought.  Kind of reminded me of the UNI game where a different guy stepped up for different stretches of the game.
