I think that we'd have size on VMI.

Don't like the matchup. Fast pace+thin, tired team=bad results.

VMI scored 80 or more 22 times this year. Ohio? 7 times.

In fact, VMI put up 100+ nine times.

Cue Ed Rooney.

Yes, we're thin but I'd rather see us get up and down instead of trying to grind out points in a halfcourt game.

Is this just a guess or does someone have some inside information?   I would think that only one quarter final matchup would be set at this point and that would the winner of San Diego-Sam Houston State playing the winner of the Texas A&M-CC-Pacific.  So much will depend on who is willing to pay for another home game.  I could see us being matched up with Murray State as well if they advance.

If VMI, and they play fast pace, then I assume they don't play a lot of zone. I'm good with that.

We might also get the Omaha/Murray St winner.  I think VMI will get one of the Ivies left.

Well, we don't have to worry about a MAC rematch in this tourney.

EMU is gone...

Strange that Murray State game is not until Monday.  I thought Russ said the 3rd round game would be either Monday or Tuesday, but I can't imagine that would be true for whoever gets the winner of that game.

CIT lists the quarters as March 25-27. I'd assume whoever plays the Monday winner isn't playing the 25th, but other than that who knows when it could be.

With San Diego and Pacific both being from the WCC, if they truly are trying not to match up league teams until the semifinals, it's possible we could get one of those two teams.

If they match-up San Diego with Pacific.  Then no reason to not match up Yale and Columbia.  Then VMI vs. Towson.  With Ohio vs. the winner of Murray St./Omaha?

With both of those Ivy's winning, it seems like we might not go east but rather west.

Ivy vs VMI
Ivy vs Towson
Ohio
San Diego
TACC or Pacific
Nebraska Omaha or Murray State

With only 8 left, I guess they may be forced to move away from not matching up conferences in order to avoid crazy travel times..

My guess is we play Omaha or Murray State but who knows.

Pacific tweeted that it is hosting San Diego, so there are two conference foes meeting in the quarters.

Don't we want a home game?  Or does the rest of the CIT go to pre-determined sites?

Columbia website says they are hosting Yale on Wednesday.

Seems like VMI/Towson would be logical geographic matchup with us getting winner of Murray St/Omaha.

The "highest seed" gets an opportunity to host games if they want. I'm not sure how they determined these seeds, but Ohio has by far the best RPI of any team left in the field. I think there's a good chance the Bobcats are able to host as long as they are in the tournament.

As we know, opponents can change at a moments notice but right now there are two CIT matchups listed on ESPN's scoreboard for Wednesday- Columbia v Yale and San Diego v Pacific. Both matchups feature teams from the same conference so I would imagine that if EMU had won today we would be playing them next. As it stands we'll face either VMI, Towson, or the winner of the Murray St v Omaha game on Monday.

Here's the 9 teams left, listed by RPI-

86 Ohio 25-11(11-7 MAC)
100 Towson 25-10(10-8 A-Sun)
125 Columbia 21-12(8-6 Ivy)
131 Pacific 17-15(6-12 WCC)
145 Murray St 19-11(13-3 OVC)
149 Yale 17-13(9-5 Ivy)
152 San Diego 18-16(7-11 WCC)
189 VMI 21-12(11-5 Big South)
209 Omaha 17-14(5-9 Summit)

edit: looking at the option on a map I'm guessing they'll pair Towson with VMI and give us the Murray St/Omaha winner.

Sounds like we're getting the Murray State vs Omaha winner. I expect Murray to handle Omaha easily. Omaha barely beat anyone good all year and just barely has an over .500 record. Murray State is a solid team and playing at home against Omaha.
