I don't care if it is a "meaningless" tournament, I really enjoyed that tonight.  Excited for the guys.

When will we know who is next?  Given our RPI, I would say we have almost no chance of getting one of the byes.  Is Ohio in the running for a home game?  Is there any way of knowing who we may play next?  Buffalo won last night, and I'll be rooting for WMU tomorrow...But I got to think they will avoid pairing up conference foes, but at the same time they may try to pair geographically similiar teams.

Buffalo, Air Force, E Carolina, E Tenn St, Northern Iowa, Ohio, and soon to be Santa Clara are the 7 winners thus far.

It's hard to tell.

On their page, they have already listed Northern Iowa and East Tennessee St. in the Quarters (both vs. TBA), Buffalo and Jacksonville in the second round (both vs. TBA).  Ohio and Air Force apparently could go either way in terms of second round byes depending on other results tonight and tomorrow.

Probably the team that coughs up most money can buy the bye

Looks like there's two byes open and six spots left in the second round.

I have to think that we're going to have a game considering our similar numbers to Buffalo, a team already listed as playing in the second round. I also think Valpo makes sense as a likely bye given their #71 RPI (CollegeRPI.com) since that is a factor in the seeding. I like the idea of a Friday night home game and I'd hope that the student and community show up to show support.

Can we get 5-6k for a Friday night CIT game guys?

Among the schools remaining, the closest ones are East Tennessee State (5 1/2 hours), Valparaiso (6 1/2 hours), Tennessee Tech (about 7 hours) and Iona (9 1/2 hours). Of course, of those, East Tennesee State is the only one to have won so far. The others play tomorrow and might not be possibilities.

If it's a home game Friday, it's not going to be good in terms of the gate, I would think.  I'm talking like CBI vs. Brown, 1,169 people bad.

No one is going to be on campus, and from the looks of the calendar the few students left get the boot from the dorms at 6:00.

Also, that other team in Columbus plays at 4:40 PM Friday. Who knows if those people would actually roll down the hill to the Convo from the bars.

Crap!  We are leaving Friday afternoon for a trip south for spring break.  We already have motel rooms booked, etc.  If we have a home game on Friday, I'll be steamed!!!

I would have to think that the CIT people would match East Tennessee State up with Tennessee Tech should Tech win.

And to think  that oldkatz thought he was getting a break on Friday, we might actually host someone.

The official CIT site has removed the second round listed games. This site's CIT Tournament page has the info the official CIT site stated earlier.

I am a ETSU alum and Ohio football season ticket holder.   Since ETSU has the bye, we will wait to see who we match up against.  I pray that it's the Bobcats...although I know the Cats are good.  ETSU already played Tenn Tech at home this year and Jacksonville is in our conference, so I doubt we will play them again.  Althought Ohio played Marshall again so who knows.

Per the CIT website:

QUARTERFINALS (March 21-22)
East Tennessee State, Northern Iowa, Ohio and the winner of the Iona-Valparaiso game will receive byes into the quarterfinals.

Some what surprising, but maybe they expected Marshall to win and like the Valpo game had pre-assigned the winner of OUr game to receive a bye.

I would have to assume that bye was intended for Marshall but we stole it.

Wow!  We're into the round of 8 and just 2 wins away from a championsip game.  I'd love to see a little spring quarter hoops in the Convo.

+1

Loved his taking the charge late in the game - absolutely heroic move with 4 fouls and the game on the line!

It was more than the game, it was his career on the line.  That call goes the other way and his time as a Bobcat player is most likely over.  Not everyone has the love for the game to take that charge in that situation.

Didn't he airball a floater in the lane right before taking that charge?

I couldn't tell from the video feed if it was partially blocked and they switched to under the basket camera as he was driving.  Looked like a ball fake, drive the lane and airballed the one handed floater.  I thought taking the charge was a great redemption play.
