Don't know if anyone else noticed but that Hustle Belt piece is gone now.  But yeah why would The Post try to do any level of real research like the Athens Messenger does?  I mean who wants to be a real journalist anyway nowadays.  We all have seen the crap going on in the news with the Malaysia Airline thing, people just want what most creates views and controversy.

In all fairness, they do try and cover a lot of topics area with what appears to be limited man power. I called them out on some of the stats, he realized that he may have rushed the article to print and owned up to it. He is a young guy still learning.

I'm amused by the point of view that amateur athletics should be profitable to be justifiable.

No offense guys but I think you all know I am not that enamored with the 3rd and 4th tournaments.  My only comment would be that about 50% of the fan base isn't enamored with it either and has NOT shown up.  We did lose one player and perhaps some others haven't been up to snuff because of injury or desire not to participate (although not quitters).  The best good news is the tourney doesn't cost much money and the young guys, bean, setty and campbell especially, are getting some good PT.

I don't want to go all Bill Clinton here, but it depends on the definition of "fan base." We had two bars full of OU fans in Chicago cheering the Bobcats on during the NCAA game vs. UNC. I understand that there are not watch parties for the CIT games because...well...they're not even on TV and they are not big games to most fans. I think that even for "regular" home games, a certain percentage of the fan base isn't "enamored" either.

There's a respectable pocket of diehard fans and the casual ones drop off when it is not a big game. That's not unusual. It is what it is.

We didn't get invited to the big dance, so we're having our own party with the other outsiders. It's still fun for some.

I agree with Casper. There are a handful of guys on this board who will watch any game the Bobcats play. I was wondering what the attendance figures were for these games and if they were 3400 as reported, it was not taken seriously by the public. We played 37 games this year. Enough is enough. Just because 50 guys never want the season to end, doesn't make it a good idea.

Hmmm.  Handful?  Yep, I'm one of those.  50?  Is that a handful?  Anyway, I'm one of those.  Never want the season to end? (Qualify, unless we win our last game)  Yep, that's me too.  Thanks for the description.  Just checking, so you want the season to end?  We certainly have different ideas about being a fan.  That's ok, I'm good with where I'm sitting right now, and in my section tonight to see Nick hit 30 including his last three at the buzzer.  I won't forget it.

I respect your opinion Giacomo.  I do.  But be careful.  People are going to start telling you that you're not happy unless everyone agrees with you.

I seriously doubt Ohio lost any significant amount of money on these games.  The crowds were pretty good, especially based on the attendance of the CIT games held at other schools.  There were 3-4K at all three games, which is more than most road MAC games Ohio plays in.  I understand there is fan fatigue at this point of the season, but I think more season ticket holders showed up for the games than didn't.  There was interest in the event.  If the CIT games in Athens were a stand alone school in the MAC, the average attendance would have been 3rd in the conference behond only Ohio and Toledo.

I'm not foolish enough to think the CIT was as prestegious as the NCAA or NIT, but I enjoyed watching the games.  We got to see three more games in the Convo, which was entertaining.  I definitely got $10 worth of enjoyment out of each ticket.
