Nobody is transferring, quitting, or being pushed out, yet we have 2 scholies left.  Can anybody out there solve this new puzzle.

One scholarship. Five players graduating and four recruits. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a transfer, but that stuff will play out in the coming months.

Actually, we do have two remaining.  There is a story out there which I became aware of which has OU with an additional scholarship to offer for next year.  That was the challenge I issued in the opening of the topic.  As to whether or not we'll get JCs, frosh, or transfers, I have no idea.

Interesting transfer list shaping up

Not sure about the JC's at this time of year. They are really looking for a PG (like many are) to fill one of those schollys that open up in June.

What story and where does this scholarship come from? Did I miss something?

Teams are allowed 13 scholarship players. Ohio has (8) Ndour, Taylor, Willis, Setty, Mompremier, Campbell, Harley and Wingfield returning and four recruits (Wigginton, Morillo-Lajara, Owens and Crute) coming in, so that's 12 on scholarship for next year. That's assuming everyone is back, and I've heard nothing official that anyone is leaving, but maybe that's where you're getting that extra scholarship.

Teams get 13 scholarships. We have one scholarship currently available, unless you know something we don't.

1. Taylor
2. Willis
3. Ndour
4. Setty
5. Wigginton
6. Morillo-Lajara
7. Campbell
8. Mompremier
9. Wingfield
10. Harley
11. Owens
12. Crute
13. (Available)

This concerns me since LDB knew about the JS news before it happened.

All of our 4 recruits are signed so I expect them to be here. #5 seems like it'll go to a HS pg however I think a juco or transfer pg is also very possible.

Hard to guess in the magic #6 scholarship without knowing how that spot becomes available. I'd be happy with best available.

Concerns me too, Optimist. But LDB did preface by saying that no one is quitting, transferring or being pushed out, so this time I'M being optimistic...

This may be old news (I didn't realize until I read it in an article this past weekend), but apparently McDermott at Creighton is a walk-on. He went off scholarship so a teammate could get one and save $40,000 per year in tuition.

Any of our players come from independently wealthy families who could afford to do the same thing?

Seems like time to even up the classes.  I haven't looked but are we outta whack somewhere?  Or, in need of something other than a point guard (or two) over six foot tall?

Far from it.  Right now we have:

2015 Seniors (3) - Ndour, Taylor, Willis
2016 Seniors (3) - Setty, Wiggington, Morillo-Lajara
2017 Seniors (2) - Campbell, Mompremier
2018 Seniors (4) - Harley, WIngfield, Owens, Crute

A frosh PG would give us 5 in one class (unless someone redshirts).  I've said before I am not only not bothered by class imbalance, I kind of like it.  It would fascinate me to see a program that routinely  puts nearly all their players in 1 or 2 classes to play together as mostly the same unit for 3-4 years.

There really are two points to balance and/or imbalance. Both grade and position are important.  It's all fine until you have two senior point guards and nobody in the wings...I guess I am confident they'll find a point guard or two.  We seem pretty set at the other positions.

With JC's history of recruiting (successful) JUCO kids I expect we will keep the classes somewhat balanced that way. I fully expect JC to bring in at least 1 JUCO every year and I am completely OK with that. In fact, I am excited about that prospect of reloading with a talented upperclassman every year. Nothing wrong with having lots of experienced players.

I have no clue how anyone can argue against JUCO's with JC's track record...
Look at the two JUCO players he has brought to OHIO so far: Travis Wilkins and Maurice NDOUR. One kid has been on a mission trip while the other has already lived and hooped in 3 countries. Great ambassadors for OHIO University AND they both have made pretty good contributions on the court as well...
We have two more JUCO's coming in next year. Wigginton is a Top 50 JUCO recruit. That is just the type of high-profile impact JUCO that helped JC keep Kent relevant every single year.

If you guys know anybody on the coaching staff, there is a Juco 6-5/190 guard (freshman) named TJ Dunans out of Atlanta that just had a 52 point game in the JC national tourney for a team that had a record of 24-2 from Columbia, TN

Offers from Auburn and WVU. Nothing to worry about with JC and company in charge.

Does anyone know anything about Ronnie Johnson, the PG listed from Purdue on this list?  Seems like he could be a mighty nice addition based on the the simple fact he was listed as a four star when recruited.

So is it one or two? And if someone has concrete information, I wish they'd come out with it instead of leaving clues along the way.

I would take another copy of Bean Willis next year because of how long it required the original Bean to get into the flow. You don't want to be in a position of no returning point guards.

I have to imagine Coach wants someone better than Bean as a PG.  I honestly view him as more of a 2 than a PG from an offensive perspective.  That's not a bad thing necessarily.

I had wanted to wait until something came out from the school, but JC did just mention on the postgame that they still "have others" to get, so i will tell you that it is two scholarships.  The doctors told DJ Wingfield that his knees are too arthritic for him to continue to play basketball.  He retains a scholarship at OU to continue forward as a student.  The team now gets an additional scholarship.  They will probably be looking at more of a shooter type to go with the PG they are looking for.  Sad, sad news for a good kid.

That's terrible if true.
