Really?  This from the one who was against us playing in the CIT.  Done beating that wonderful drum?

You may not like my opinions/thoughts but they keep this place from becoming boring.  Proof:  Look how boring the football threads are now that I've withdrawn my contribs given the hostility.

Don't be another boob who mistakes a strong opinion for unwillingness to consider other points of view.  Don't be a boob who's unwilling to consider other points of view.

Is "Don't be a boob and try to alienate a (I think large) portion of the fan base" also an acceptable request?

Yeah, it's not as if anyone here's interested in the relationship with columbus, especially in light of Michigan/columbus.

Someone who is prominent, but posts here only occasionally, once told me that he was at times not impressed with the quality of the thinking and discourse on this board.  Beginning to see it, beginning to wonder about the quality of the education and thinking of some people.

Let me save you the trouble:  'No one's reading this.'   'Your only goal is to have people agree with you.'

Fine.  You guys can stick it.

Who wants to waste time with geniuses who won't--cannot-- meet the argument.  It takes true brainpower to blanket slam 'off the rails, again' when you don't like someone's opinion.  Congratulations on your small minds.

I apologize for having faith that some of you could read, comprehend, and respond.

'off the rails, again' is so much easier.

Neil/Kit-Kat/Monroe, time to dig through those old Countrywide Home Loans lending standards again to get back to your healthy pre-crash mindset.

How about, "Don't feed the Troll"?

Not that I am an tOSU zealot; however, the fact that you cannot support both schools at some level is asinine.

What if I received my graduate degree there and I have a bond with the school?  What if my parents and grandparents went there and I grew up rooting for them because of my Family's history?  What if Urban Meyer and I share the same hometown and I grew up with him?  I am not allowed to support him?

I am not defending your stereotypical Buckeye fan that is over the top and doesn't have any tied to the institution, but there are many scenarios where one can have a legit tie to both schools.

Quit being a troll and start talking about big menz, grit and hustle again.

Well, both of my degrees came from Harvard on the Hocking, maybe that explains my poor reading comprehension.  My understanding of what you posted originally was, essentially, "if you have even fractionally split loyalties, you're not as good a fan as Monroe Slavin and you suck."  Seems like a waste of such magnificent brain power, in my humble opinion.

Thank you for making this so easy.

I started this thread to provoke thoughtful discussion.  The rigid thinkers here have taken that personally and have just become provoked.

Let's talk trolling...since so many of you are classic at that:  post anonymously and avoid the questions which I asked... opting, instead, for your usual rigid-thinking, broad blanket slams.  Very impressive.

100%cat--My orig post asserts that there are some here who 1) root for state and the 'Cats and who 2) show a paternalistic/haughty attitude favoring state over the Bobcats.  ('There, there little Bobcats.  Enjoy who we are since we can never compete with state' type of attitude.)  I think it's fair to say that we've seen that attitude here.

Then, I ask some questions.  So, 100%cat, where does my original post make declaratives.  Where do I insist that split loyalties make someone a bad fan.  I merely asked questions to gain context, to see how split fans handle their Ohio side on state boards, etc.

In later posts here, I take people to task for not answering my questions.  That's my integrity thing.   I think that it's fair for people to address the issue at least in some way.  Instead, we get the usual rigid thinkers with their usual, rather inane, reflexive (no thought) slams.

Integrity.  Posting under one's real name instead of hiding in anonymity.  Try it; show a little bit of grace.

It doesn't have to be said when it's implied every time you bring this split loyalty crap up.  For all you say about "I see that attitude here," show me because I haven't.  Granted I do not frequent the football board and maybe that's where it is, but here on the hoops board, show me that attitude.  I have not seen it.

You know, I saw a guy in the Convo last night wearing a Michigan hat with an OU shirt on, cheering on the Bobcats.  I passed another guy wearing a Colorado Buffaloes hat.  Why does it matter that they have split loyalties when they came to the arena to support OU?  Were you there to support us last night?  If not, how did you provide your superfan support from Cali?

Hold on a minute 100%cat.  You staked your two degrees on what I said in my original post here.

Now you're backpedaling, relying on stuff that you say that  I implied a lot.  Not a real sound basis for argument--it kinda lets you take hold of what you think that I said vs. what I really said.

Rigorous discussions--what these threads should be--proceed with fairness and a reasonable represenation of the truth.  I've been around a while and I think it's fair to say that there have been those here who support ohio state and OU but feel the former is in a far superior position as far as sports go.   An attitude that I dislike.

Supporting Ohio while wearing other school's gear?  Okay.  Being an Ohio grad and wearing other's garb while supporting Ohio--not for me.  It's weak. But if you feel that's okay, then, fine.  Let's civilly agree to disagree.

But I think it's fair to ask you and others to meet the points that are made, not to avoid those points or mis-characterize them.  If people won't respond to points made, then we're not in the realm of discussion.  We're in 'whatever you say I disagree with' land.

Now, there is one person (football threads) who I've called out, and called out the moderators here about.  If you took a template of what a paid supporter of the University would post here--only positive stuff with never a trace of reality when that reality/truth is not good--then you'd have that poster.  He or she also posts anonymously.  He's so far over the edge in not acknowledging reality that I think it's outrageous that neither he/she nor the mods have stated whether or not he's employed by the University or closely related to someone who is.  Integrity?  No.

Was I in The Convo supporting the 'Cats last night.  C'mon.  You know that I live in CA.  I bought two tix to every  CIT game.  I do okay in terms of supporting Ohio athletics.  But your question doesn't speak well of you. ..Do you really think that opinion/statements should be judged by level of support ($ or attendance, etc)?

I view things as a business person.  I don't (Good Will Hunting) care where good stuff comes from (janitor or CEO).  I wanna hear it.  I wanna read good argument here even if I disagree with it.

The thought that I want everyone to agree with me--don't know how that got started.  That'd be boring.

I hope all of you fall for a really dumb April Fool's joke.

That's as vindictive as I get.
