With recent news of Owens asking to be released, after speaking with JC while he was in meetings in Boston, it is not looking good....

So, who are good possibilities to come in (and their merits)?

Or we could have another great Come Back 'Cats moment, but my hope is seriously dwindling...

My sources tell me that Ohio's coaching search is on and is already down to 2 finalists: Danny Nee and Mike D'Antoni.

wouldn't it be refreshingly honest for our next coach, whoever he is and whenever he takes over, to say at his opening press conference, "Look, I'm here to do the best job possible for this school, this team and these fans.  I guarantee that my staff and I will work our asses off to make this the best program possible.  But I also have to be honest.  Ohio University is not the be-all and end-all of college basketball.  If other opportunities are presented to me, I owe it to myself and my family to consider them."

I, for one, would appreciate the honesty and would know what to expect...or at least would never be surprised...

Dino Gaudio probably makes more at ESPN and would have one foot out the door as soon as got here.

If all three of us agree, it's either a brilliant idea or a terrible one.

Borna, you know the school, the system, and the challenges. BA already has a direct line to you. You up for the challenge? Ha

Pays better than my day job....but .....no....make that a hell no!

I could probably deal with the kids, hyping the program, never being home and going to tons of AAU/HS and summer ball games, talking to parents and recruits (nothing changes there)....... and maybe even coach a little  (very little)  bit....but coming on here and  facing you guys everyday is an impossible proposition

I think three people who care about this program see a coach that has spent time here, from the Midwest, and also has head coaching experience.  I say best case scenario.

I think Chris would be a good candidate to consider.  Thats scary when you have the four of us on the same page.

I'll ask again, though: Doesn't Christian turn out to be a poor choice given current events?  Jumps after two years and zero titles?  Sets us back big-time on the recruiting trail?

Agree, but there is not one coach, NOT ONE, in this day and age who wants to come to this school and make a career here.  That's why there is no way this school can ever go to the next level.  No one will stay here long enough to do it.

And believe me, I know all about Bob McKillop at Davidson.  If he was 20 years younger and all other things were equal, he'd have been hired away long ago.

The one thing I'd like to see debated:  Even with the success we've had since, was it a mistake to let Larry Hunter go?  Could we have had the same success, but with stability?

Agree about coaches not staying forever, but is something longer than two years too much to ask?   JG stayed at least 4 years and he didn't try to take his best recruit with him BEFORE any announcement he was even leaving was made.
