There were people all the way up to the top on the section 203 side.

Who were the prospects in the house Boals mentioned in the post-game presser?
Jordan Fisher from Reynoldsburg can be seen in one of the team's Twitter vids. Don't know if either of us teammates we've also offered were there.

With the way we shot the ball from three we should be up by more than seven. Can we continue the hot pace from three? Somebody needs to explain to me why Clayton sat the last seven minutes? Boals should have called a timeout in the last 4 minutes to get Clayton in for The Whiz…who played way too many minutes in the first half.
Clayton seemed spent. He was a constant motion machine when in the game. Don't let him injure himself due to being exhausted. Save his legs for the next game. Enough reasons for you?

Oh yes, excellent game Bobcats . . . just keep that steam agoing!

Seems like a pretty solid Miami freshman class that was playing today.

How well do you think they compare to OHIO's last year freshman class of Brown, Hadaway, James and Sheldon?

In the early 70's when filling the convo brought tremendous energy. I remember an end of season game that won the MAC where the isles were filled solid. I believe that was against Bowling Green. Come on my old alumni friends and support my memories !

Taking care of business at home. That’s what you gotta do.

There isn’t a lot of breathing room, but OU now has a 1 game hold on 5th.

We’re butt cheeks on the road, but I think OU could make a move into 4th maybe even 3rd with Akron and Toledo. BG is a team I worry about - CMU I’m shocked is still holding on to a podium spot.

Every game is important. Just get to Cleveland. Elmore is slowly coming back.

Slowly being the key word.

Six total points (and 7 fouls) in 4 games since returning from injury. Scored 0 points yesterday v. Miami in 7 minutes while not seeing the floor in the 2nd half.

Honestly I wonder if Boals doesn’t have a bit of shell shock from AJB.

I hope he didn’t tweek something. Which not playing in the 2nd half… in a close game…

It’s unfortunate Elmore has to gut through it because we’re about as deep as a puddle.

Game highlight for me came early in the first half when Bobcatsquared said, "Miles Brown has stayed one year too many. He gives us nothing." Brown then hits 2 straight three-pointers and 'Squared yells, "One more year, Miles!"

Billy and. Bobby, being a 1971 grad, I was at that BG game. It was the craziest atmosphere I have ever seen in the condo. I guess that’s why us old guys talk about the “good old days”. That’s where there was even talk because of the Convo that we would be going to the big 10, I guess that’s a ha ha ha when you think about it nowadays.

While not a Big 10 member, Ohio did open the 1968-69 season with 6 straight Big 10 opponents. The Bobcats opened the following season with 4 straight Big opponents, going 4-0, including a 1-point win v. Purdue (#3 in the country at the time) in the Convo. Ohio lost by 3 at Wisconsin on Jan. 31 of that season, giving them a 4-1 record v. Big 10 teams and a claim to the Big 10 title.

Ohio started the 1970-71 season with wins v. Northwestern (Convo) and at Wisconsin before losing at Indiana. The next year saw Ohio lose a season-opener at Northwestern before beating Ohio State and Indiana, both in the Convo in the same week. I can only imagine what it was like hosting and defeating the Buckeyes and Hoosiers in the same week (about 8 years before my time in Athens). The Bobcats lost at Michigan in their next game.

They went 1-3 v. Big 10 teams the next year, all on the road. Ohio beat OSU in the Convo again in the 1973-74 season, hosted and lost to Northwestern and lost at Wisconsin. They then went 0-3, all on the road, the next season.

My source, sports-reference.com, unfortunately does not provide box scores for these games. Would love to know the attendance for the games in the Convo. Can only imagine the atmosphere.

Never again, sadly.

Was there as well. Game just happened to be on sibs weekend. No one knows how many people were packed into the convo, but it was well beyond official capacity.

That was also the year we swept four Big 10 teams to open the season and at Christmas, Bobcats were ranked in the Top 10 in the polls.

While not ideal, I would think there was still a good crowd. One of the largest crowds I can remember was during Christmas break in the 1990s when Ohio beat West Virginia. I think we beat WVU 3 straight years before WVU coach Gale Catlett ended the series.

The biggest crowd I ever witnessed at the Convo was 1979 (?) when Styx was there and they had the #6 selling album (Pieces of Eight) in the nation. A complete sell-out as could also be said of that album as well - LOL!!

Being a 71 grad, I was at every basketball game in my 4 years. The BG game was amazing. I do believe they changed lots of rules after that game since every fire safety rule was violated. I still remember Rick Mounts when we played Purdue. Those were the days.

You're misremembering. They didn't even sell 1/3 of the upper-level sections because they were behind the stage. Maybe 10K.

During my Ohio years - 1963-67 - Purdue came to Athens with Dave Schellhase who during his senior season averaged 32.5 ppg. The Bobcats prevailed.

I guess that's possible. Some musician friends of mine from Cbus were in town and none of us had tickets...but the guy who organized the East Green concerts back then was working backstage in the freight tunnel thing area and let us hang around and watch some of the concert anyway. If that was you, appreciated it!

What a great day in Athens. Brought my 2 high schoolers and the eldest's girlfriend. Beautiful day walked all around campus spreading propaganda.

Felt great having a legit crowd in the Convo, and it wasn't all because of Subs weekend. A lot of casual fans picked this game to show up to. As far as the noise level and energy, I still say meh. There were a few moments I felt we should've really exploded but this crowd just doesn't have more than a 5 second spurt in them these days. But trying not to complain, was just happy for the big crowd.

It is always fun when the 3s are dropping. Jaylin has found his groove the last few games, he is the key to being able to go on a run. He was 4 for 5 from 2 had 8 assists and just 1 TO.

Clayton 8 shots, all 3 pointers. Grrrrrrr. At least he acts like abig man on defense, he did a great job defending in the paint. The block to lead off that douchebag Potter was so good.

I have behaved and not dogged Wiz much this year, but he had so many missed rebound opportunities it was painful. I shouldn't just pick on him though...the defensive rebounding was poor and the only reason it was a game at all. So many times the positioning and timing was off, there must've been 5 balls that hit the ground off the rim.

I don't normally get to the convo early enough for warmups, watching Sheldon comfortably throw down several dunks had me impressed. You see it in the game too when going for rebounds or driving to the hoop, that man can seriously elevate.

Clayton had foul trouble, the other 4 starters all played 33+. Coach seems to have settled into his 5 and leaning into them more and more. I know it is injury related, but still wild to see Elmore on the outside of that group. A full week off next week, maybe that will help EJ.

This happens basically every season where we have a run in the schedule of home games and we all talk about how the team is really turning the corner and coming together. Tomorrow is a huge game...if we go back on the road and drop one to a team we should be able to beat, it will really be deflating. Keep it going with a comfortable win and we can legitimately start thinking we are contenders. Ark State is whatever but I would love to go into Toledo on a 5 game win streak.

Nice recap. I’m with you about Arkansas State. I hate that this game is even on the schedule now for how this team is playing. I would’ve rather it been a MAC game and keep this thing going. As it is, I could really care less about the game and it really doesn’t matter if we lose. Should not affect conference momentum if we beat Ball State.

As for your analysis on The Whiz. Two years in Athens and the man still can’t catch the basketball. Thus, rebounds hitting the floor and rebounds going through his hands. The lack of hands also leads to the ball getting stolen. People can say The Whiz is improving, but nobody can say his handles have improved.

Sheldon has a couple dunks on his high school tape. It's in the bag. He was revving up for a putback slam on a missed Shereef layup against Buffalo that just didn't bounce the right way.

O Zone needs to get back to the Cameron Crazies jumping "OOOOOOHHHHH" thing after every dunk and three pointer for the next defensive possession. Those Clayton threes to close the gap in the first half were huge. The Wiz dunk sequence was huge. The OOOHHHH is simply sustained energy and everyone knows it. The whole student section was jumping after Wiz's second dunk then it just died out.
