Why is this guy not being mentioned?! Former PG...off the charts intensity...all the energy in the world...

Would love to see him on the Bobcat sidelines...!! Go after him, Schaus!

Because beat writers don't want to have to keep typing that last name on deadline and when they're tweeting during postgame pressers?

Not at all sold on Trent as an assistant.  Absolutely NO collegiate coaching experience, and with a presumably rookie head coach, we'll need experience on the bench.  If Gary wants to come in as a grad assistant, that's something maybe we could live with.  Despite what has been said on this board, I think the chances are slim  that Boals or anyone else who is looking to advance their career would want someone with no experience in a program that is looking to  "move to the next level."

Danny Manning is leaving a Final Four team (Kansas) after the weekend to take over Tulsa.  If we're going after Boals, what's keeping us waiting until Monday/Tuesday to get the interviewing process underway?  I guess it could be happening anyway, but I just think this is something that could be done pretty quickly.

Of course that could mean anything from "he has established a list of criteria that he needs in the next coach and has identified X people who meet that criteria" to "he has THE guy".

I would expect/hope the first to be true. Absolutely no way of knowing if the second is true.

It's Friday, waiting one more day to talk to Boals is no big deal.  He'll be free by 11:00 tomorrow night.

Continuity. This program is heading in the right direction and big changes to the philosophy at this point could kill a lot of the momentum that Groce and team have built.

I didn't read all the way through but a thought I had about a possible outsider and could be  Solich type could be Paul Westhead. Has tournament experience, with mid major and major programs. Runs a very fast paced offense. Currently coaches Oregon women's program, and Is the only coach to ever win a NBA, NCAA, and WNBA championship.

I agree with continuity.  Why would we consider an outsider when Dustin knows the system and philosophy to continue our great year.  Jeff Boals, just because he is an OSU assistant (same as Coach Groce was before he came) is a different person.  Just because he is from the "Matta line of coaches" does not make him a better choice than Dustin.  Boals and Ford were both assistants last year, with no head coaching experience.  Dustin is every bit as qualified to be our head coach as Boals, and moreso because he was with us last year.  All the Boals talk and going to OSU assistant coach rout again may not turn out the same.  Let's continue with Dustin Ford, who is already our man.

He caught lightning in a bottle with Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble. Other than that run with those two he's been pretty mediocre.  And he never won an NCAA title.  Plus he's 73 years old.

You ready for LMU, part II??

We certainly have the shooters for that kind of system...

Think DJ, Offutt, Kellogg and Stevie would have a problem with being directed to shoot every 7 seconds, and do it 15-20 times each per game?

Well, we probably wouldn't have to worry about him "movin' on" ... at least, to another program on this earth.

Ford is also the assistant with no Chicago ties.  They may just be looking out for him to get/keep the second chair at a minimum.

Does anyone know, is Dustin our main recruiting assistant? And what kind of staff does he put together? Like others, I am very impressed with what I've seen on game day. Just wondering. Borna or anyone else

I'm not really sure on which coach actually is in charge of recruiting but I do know that Ford was the recruiting coordinator while he was an assistant at Western Carolina.

Just like JG and unlike Frank where they had a huge committee, this will be a Schaus hire.  If he hits a home run, he's on to bigger things.  His record at OU is very good on a resume.  This would be the thing that kicks him up to the next level.  Here's hoping he makes as good a choice on the next guy as he did with JG.

Agree with your point, Al.  Let me just add that though there was a big committee when Frank was hired, the ultimate decision was one man's -- McDavis.  And, Frank has made it very clear on numerous occasions that he would not have signed on the dotted line without the good vibes he was getting from the prez.  I think you're right that this has been delegated to Schaus, but I wouldn't be surprised if the prez is called into service if a candidate we really want needs a little extra "persuading."

Look, I love the idea of continuity, but I want to level up even more. We need a name and a pedigree. That is what gets recruits interested. You can't tell me the guys wouldn't want to play for Wojo! They need to get excited again and I think this type of hire would do that...

High energy, loves defense, former pg, won a national title at Duke....home and home with Duke???

I want Wojo! Somebody get Schaus on the phone...

Great Player =/= Great Coach. I don't think Wojo is ready to be a head coach yet. I saw someone throw out the Pelphrey name, and I wouldn't mind seeing him come in. He might lack in midwest recruiting, but he can bring in some of the Florida recruits. His HC record doesn't quite speak for how good of a coach he is, but he is a name (from some name schools) that can bump some attention our way.
